I would love to try making some sock monkeys. I have tried to find a pattern on here, but is there a page or post to look at that would start me off with the basics please? Thank you.

  • Haven't been around for a while so have been browsing through the thread again. Everyone's makes are fantastic! I can't believe how quick some of you can churn them out! I've become lazy and haven't really done much in the way of anything recently (which is gonna bite my a** come November whem I'm busy with other stuff and can't make anything!)

Shelley3774 - I LOVE the monkey holding the bottle of wine and being all wrapped up in cellophane like that. I've been wondering how to present my monkey's for Christmas presents. Do you mind if I borrow that idea? It looks fantastic :)

sm1971 - The penguins are super cute! I seriously could just snuggle one all day. I love penguins.

gemsmember, nuttybabe, cuddles123 - Cats are fantastic from all of you! I've got a friend's birthday coming up and she loves cats so I'm now thinking of trying a Sock Cat. Are they simple enough to do?

Here's the monkey I'm giving to Mum for Christmas. She has a small *cough* obsession with handbags. I'll make a few more before Christmas for the monkey to have so she'll get the joke. I need some different colour fabrics first.

I found the cat easier and quicker to make than a monkey, once you have got your basic shape sorted.

I like the multi handbags for your Mum - good idea

Thanks Kaleidoscope27 he was made for my Dad :) of course I don't mind you wrapping yours in cello :). I've always got lots of cello I love it and use it to wrap all my other crafts e.g nappy cakes, owl cushions etc! I find it so versatile.

It's my best mate's son's birthday Sat so I've just made him up a sock monkey called Joe x

Wow Gemsmember, thats alot of monkeys!!!! I hope it goes well.

Shelly - i have bags my mum gave me that i put mine in. i have done them hugging little bottles of champers and for xmas for my many many neices i am going to have them hugging boxes of bracelets. I am hoping they look good. I have had a look on ebay for cello and might get that as it will look better than my clear bags.

i have been a bit ill so had a few days off. but have done 4 elf sock monkeys. they are all naked though! not been to material shop to get anything for clothes. the otis the elf sock monkey i made for my kids had a worn out red t'shirt and socks for his outfit and bells off xmas socks i had!!! but as people have ordered these i thought i would buy the decent material!!!!! :rotfl:
