i am a nightmare for last minute stuff! I am usually up till 2 or 3 in the morning making presents last minute!!! :p its a standing joke in my family that anything from me never gets there on time!!! :o

thats a good idea. i think i will do that. i use xmas decorations as necklaces!!

got the eyes off ebay. they were on special offer! :D

Chatty - they are brilliant and what a good idea for the teachers!! dd has got a really good teacher who only started in nursery a few months ago but dd has really come out of her shell with her so am definatly going to do something of her. she might even get a sock monkey!! :T

Nuttybabe you can get cheap necklaces in Primark and break them down, think that would
    work as well.

Chatty123 ah they are so sweet....were the clothes difficult to make? Did you make the pattern
yourself? What lovely presents for teachers they will love them. Cute hair styles, the crinkly hair is fab. Was the wool like that
or did you crinkle it yoursef?
When I made a waistcoat I found that I had to keep cuttining it, trying it on and then cutting a bit more off till it fit.
Good thing it was fake leather, so no fraying and no seams otherwise it would have been a right old mess!
(and no I didnt make a paper pattern of it so if I make another its a repeat of the above, how daft was I! )

They look very neat and professional
Good idea about splitting wool. I'm sure it could be used for other projects as well.

i've always been a sewing machinist.. i keep sayin i should make some patterns for the dresses ...but well never get around to it

i do the same when i knit the clothes.. i just knitaway and hope for the best.. and never write down as i go along

splitting the wool takes some time but its worth it i reckon.

Chatty123; I think you are very clever to do it all by eye.

Hi -- I wonder if anyone can help me . I have made sock monkeys before and absolutely love them. This morning I bought the Stray Sock Sewing Book. I should have spent more time looking inside but as always in a rush!!
I love the stripy one on the front cover called Sock Doll Tweens -- number 62. BUT when I went to look at the instructions it is not included in the projects part !!
I have just spent the best part of the afternoon trying to make it from the picture -- a dismal failure!!
Has anyone tried it and can possibly help me with some guidance.
    Thank you all in anticipation
    Linda

Sorry Chalky 75. I've not seen that book, can you borrow one from the library?
Sometimes if they don't have it and they think that it will be popular they buy it.
(well they do in my library and I get first dibs at reading it!)
That must be really annoying, is there an email addy in the book where you
can get in touch with the author?

Thanks pennib. I bought the book thinking that all the illustrations would have instructions but alas no!! So I was hoping that someone had been creative enough to copy the picture
Please see plea from my previous post

Hi - Hmm, not sure wether I'm glad I found this thread or not lol I made my first sock monkey a few weeks ago and now I'm totally addicted. My first one was a pretty poor attempt but the second came out much better! I am now over run with socks 7 pairs for £2 in Primark and some were half price! Chalky - I have seen the book you mean - I saw it in Hobbycraft but after having a look through I didn't tink it would be that useful due to lack of instructions although the pics were pretty impressive! Im just going to have a play around and see what I can make - I am dying to make a sock pig lol! Another thread to keep an eye on!.....
