I am now totally addicted to making my little monkeys I finished number four this afternoon. Even my mil wants one :rotfl:In Perfect love and Perfect Trust.0

I am not sure how everyone does theirs but here is how I did mine.
I used embroidery thread. I tied a knot in the end and cut off the excess, this knot became one of the monkeys nostrils, then I sewed through the mouth to one of the corners of the mouth then around the outside of the monkey to the other end of the mouth, back through the inside and out again for the other nostril with another knot, again cutting off the excess thread.
To keep the mouth in position I used some thin black thread and sewed a couple of stitches through the embroidery thead.
I hope that makes sense, I haven't explained it too well.
thank you!! I will try this with this weekends ones- I have some dark pink embroidery thread and some light fluffy pink socks.
Oddly, on my sock hunt, I bought a two pack from Tesco of fluffy pink ones in the childrens section, got them home and reaslised a) I had been charged £1.50 and not the £3 on the tag and b) they fit my size 8 feet- so they are now being worn until the cold weather goes away!If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0 -
I came across this tread just before christmas, these sock monkeys are geat, well i finally got my hubby to get my sewing machine out the loft and bought some socks to make one or two, i got abit carried away after that and i have made 13 in two weeks, i am now buying sock every time i go out, my son even had a go and made a sock monster (he's 19) here are some pictures

I'm getting a little addicted to making them too. I showed one to a work colleague and now I am going round to her house for dinner so I can show her daughter how to make a sock monkey. My housemates think I am a loon!God is good, all the time

Natbag, your monkey is so cute. I like the close up photo so we can see the detail. How did you do the eyes, is it two buttons per eye?0
