I recently sent an email to Walkers about a packet of crisps that I had that were more soft than crisp, despite being well within their best before date and part of a multipack which were all fine. They emailed me back saying that usually they would need the empty bag to be sent in for them to investigate, but on this occasion they would be sending me reimbursement. This arrived yesterday in the form of a nice letter and £3 worth of vouchers. Excellent customer service.0

Sent an email to Wrigleys saying I was unsure of what chewing gum to buy, as buying the wrong one may put me off forever (even though Wrigleys are my fav brand  ), hoping for some free samples, no luck though!0

Opened a packet of Suet earlier to make dumplings and found what looked like fleas having a party in it. Was fully sealed and everything I felt so sick has put me off for life. I know they were Weavils that can hatch from flour but even so how awful.
I dont know if this warrants a complaint tho, would you?

I dont understand the motive behind contacting a company with compliments in the hope of getting something free. Is this not begging?
If I am happy with a product or service I am given or I pay for (like good service in a restaurant or a good haircut), I am more inclined to offer my appreciation TO THEM...I dont feel the need to contact them after to try scrounge money back from them!
There's no such thing as a freebie in the context of what this thread is trying to achieve...its either justified compensation for poor quality (which if genuine, should be nothing to really rejoice over - if a mistake has been made and its been rectified, then subject closed in my book), or its well-disguised begging.
I could go to the local supermarket in the morning and offer compliments to everyone that walks out, and perhaps someone would feel awkward enough to give me something out of their shopping in return...I'd essentially have a freebie....result??0 -

If the packet was opened then stored they would be your problem but as you said the packet was sealed before you discovered them then I would complain bacause weevils are found in humid conditions, and come from storing any kind of food grain over a long period of time.
So this must be down to the company so I would defo complain!!!I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.
Been a long time but i'm back.0 -
