On the other side of this, a lot of tax credit staff have to deal with people coming on the line with this kind of attitude that the tc staff are incompetent...nobody should have to work with people showing them contempt for trying to help them. It can be very frustrating, especially when people become abusive for things like technical problems, and even more ludicrous things to get annoyed for staff for. I remember when I worked for BT, and the people would come on the line treating me like an idiot (I'm actually highly qualified and was doing a temp job while I was weighing up my options) and twice there was an actual fire....flames everywhere, and people were angry on the phones that they'd waited so long, and didn't want us to leave the convo...wanted us to take their phone numbers and c/b. I don't think they were thinkin....if flames were moving in, there wouldn't be much left to phone from, plus no job is worth staying longer with the risk of death there so high. Sorry for the rant....but it just seems like staff can get a raw deal too.
Sorry i wasnt having ago at the staff.More the system.I havnt really had any bother.Staff always friendly and helpful. There needs to be a system where people can go when things go wrong , without it taking weeks for people to get there money.I know its not the staffs fault .

I understand what you're saying. I think we're all frustrated with the system. It is improving though.

I was thinking about this situation earlier...and I wondered if perhaps the person actually ended the job on the fri and started new one on monday...cos if so...you wouldn't have been entit to ch care help in between, and that messes up the child care on the system. If you went straight from one job to the other within 7days, it would have been better to have just ended it on the system on Sunday, and start the new one on Mon, thus showing a continuing entitlement to childcare. I guess these ideas are all just a stab in the dark though. Hope it gets sorted

Rang up yesterday and got told everything is ok with my claim and they have all the info they need. I did get told they are having problems with the system and should hopefully be fixed early next week.

If the gap between jobs is 7 days or less then the gap is actually closed and gives continual entitlement for both the WTC and the childcare.

That's good to know. I've had a couple of cases where the actual work history has had a day or 2 gap, and it's caused probs with child care (when then trying to stop cc, system says no entit in error box so it won't let you end the cc until you go fill in the couple of days or whatever gaps in the emp history)..but I know the system is continuously being improved and I'm fairly new anyhow in the scale of things anyhow.

Well still nothing sorted. Still waiting for the claim to be sorted and apparently my claim might be stuck in the queue and something has been sent off to try and get it unstuck.

Two weeks behind with my sons nursery fees now.

Sometimes I get the feeling they want my son kicked out of nursery so I lose my job and they dont have to pay me.

Seriously getting depressed about this now

Just been told now my claim has been escalated but I must wait a extra 5-10 days for the escalation team to deal with it

So by 10 days my sons nursery will be 3 weeks late

If your household income is low then you may be entitled to a hardship payment from your local HMRC enquiry centre. They are not allowed to replace all of the money owed to you but they can issue you a 1 week payment which might help keep your childcare place open whilst waiting for the change to finish processing. If you are going to try this you have to provide 2 forms of ID - 1 photographic and 1 with your address such as a utility bill or bank statement.

That is normally true but as I said if your household income is low the enquiry centre has the discretion to issue a payment.
