I didn't know before reading this thread, that it was possible for income to be maintaince plus tax credits. I always thought that it was the choice of working 16 hours+ and claiming tax credits and keeping maintainance, or being on Income Support and only keeping a small amount of maintaince.

Good luck with the job hunting M-O-T.

Yes you can get CSA and Child Tax Cred, but you arent getting the CTC with the CSA as income, it'd be like if you were unemployed with kids, but living with your parents and not claiming income support due to personal preference you'd still get CTC because its nothing to do with benefits or work, or like when you are a student you're not entitled to income support, but your studying isnt counted as proper work for WTC, so you just get CTC.

Anyone can get just Child Tax credit/child benefit, but most people dont because most people could never live off it hence why you've never heard of anyone doing it. This is a unique situation where the ex pays a large amount of CSA and presumably pays for the house as I cant see how mumoftwins could pay rent/mortgage out of £700 CSA and child tax credit, rated at about £40 a week tops

    Hi Miss_K,

Ex doesn't pay for house, the rent comes out of my money ie: maintenance, CTC and CB. I get 30% of the rent paid by HB.
