Rang HB on Thursday too to tell them and confirmed via email. So yesterday I had to send another email confirming that it won't be necessary to re-assess until October.
I have also applied for 4 jobs with the NHS and one with the Royal Vet College.
Was up job searching on computer till midnight last night and then had a dreadful sleep!!
Note to self: Do not job hunt so late into the evening, take a milky drink to bed at a reasonable time and settle down and read your book missus0 -
did you go on the nhs job site ? I regulary look there
Yes, I spent all Friday evening scouring it and yesterday morning I applied for 4 jobs on there. I have registered myself for the daily email too with new job updates. I also get the teaching support staff daily email too.
But I think I'll do what Colnkits advised and ring the Council and NHS for the name of any agencies they use so that I get registered with them - thank you Colnkits :T .
I don't think, in fact I know, that my ex will be very against giving us more than 3 months maintenance - he'd rather see us in IS  .
You will never guess what he said to me yesterday - when I come to pick the twins up later this week (he's having them whilst I'm away) will you make sure that they have packed some smart clothes - a shirt and smart trousers for A and a dress for F - as we are going to a BBQ next Saturday and they need to look smart:eek: . My kids always look clean and tidy, A doesn't own a shirt (only school ones) as he is the sort who prefers tshirts and sweaters. So, is ex now expecting me to go out and buy him a shirt for a 'do' that he is taking them too:mad:

Scarlett1 - I've done it! In for a penny in for a pound
Hi ***
I am writing to ask if you would consider extending the period of time that you will pay maintenance for please? I know your notice period is 3 months and that according to the CSA you only have to pay the 3 months. However, having worked out all the figures including what Income Support and Housing Benefit would pay, it still leaves us £250.00 a month worse off and we are only just managing as it is.
I have applied for 5 jobs (none in Estate Agency or New Homes due to market conditions) and will continue to apply. Obviously my priority is that I am at home for the twins after school and during the holidays, so I have 2 options - one is to work in a school (jobs are hard to find but I get a daily job update from Herts Education) and the other is to work for the NHS bank support staff - again I receive a daily job update from them too and have applied for 5 jobs with them in the last few days.
Would you please consider extending the maintenance after October for another 6-9 months by which time one of us hopefully will be in employment again?
Thank you,

Just a thought but what happens if he can't get another job? What seems like a huge redundancy package will go very quickly, especially if he has any debts to clear. He won't be able to claim anything except JSA. Not that I am anybody's side but it needs consideration.0

To be honest, I don't think it an unreasonable request. Your ex has planned to take the children somewhere nice and wants them to look smart. I don't think he is obliquely passing comment on your children's dress code.
Put your son in one of his new school shirts and a pair of trousers for the outing, thus negating the need to buy a new shirt This is what I used to do with my son as he didn't have 'posh' shirts as he never wore them.0 -
My ex is similar~so now if hes not happy its up to him to do what he feels he needs to do.I refuse to waste money on things to be worn once!I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. I think perhaps a little bit of give and take? It sounds as if he pays fairly hefty maintenance, enough for you to live on as well with your child related benefits, so perhaps a request for smartly turned out children just occasionally is not too much to ask for.At least he wants to take them to the barbecue. Perhaps if it is that much of an imposition then the children should stay with you.0
