All opposition MPs' have offices!! Making an appointment means you are going to meet them face to face and put the facts of your case across, that's where I went!! Why do you think I mentioned them, duh! You can find them online for your area and email them.0

First port of call though should be the OP's MP.
Give me strength!! It's very easy! Stop complicating things and confusing people that are trying to get to the root of sorting out their problems in a straight forward manner!0 -
Woodworker wrote: »where would the money come from to pay essential benefits if every one decided “I’ve got a bad back therefore I can’t work”?
I think everyone here knows that it would be illogical for the whole country to go on benefits, Woodworker.Woodworker wrote: »if all the luxuries in life were freely available to those who don’t work (for what ever reason) then what would be the point in working?
That's the whole point, it has to be a good reason. I'm all for enforcing strict rules in awarding benefits. But I'm also all for working a job I enjoy and paying taxes so that people like the OP, people who do have a good reason, can have a fair standard of living.
And fruity: don't be too harsh, DD's trying to help. And unfortunately, these things are never straightforward.~Be true to your work, your word, and your friend~0 -
Woodworker wrote: »Yes, point taken. However if you’re all for strict rules and the OP’s local council rules are “No housing moves when your are in rent arrears”. Why should the OP be allowed a move until the arrears are cleared?
I do appreciate your question, but I wouldn't be posting suggestions here if I didn't think there had been some bad practice going on. The OP's council told her one thing 11 months ago, gave her false hope, then told her another when it suited them. It also seems that she's been treated utterly appallingly by the benefits system - her husband clearly deserves DLA if he can't even walk properly, yet they are having a horrific time claiming it. I know that the DLA is not the responsibility of her council, but I feel her entire situation needs to be looked at properly. Everything is so compartmentalised and it makes awful situations like this all too common.~Be true to your work, your word, and your friend~0 -
Give up on woodworker he not worth it he will go on and on and on till he takes his medication
And he hasnt even said sorry to OP yetIf you dont like me remember its mind over matter, I dont mind and you dont matter0 -
Fruity, I noticed from your profile that you just joined MSE today and I cant help wondering why you are being so antagonistic so early in your MSE posts?
whats wrong?
I'm antagonitic! Have you read this thread ! As for the fact I've just joined, what's that got to do with anything? Can you only have a opinion, make remarks, when you are a fully fledged poster? Are we then also allowed to diverse from the topic? I gave my advice from personal experience in an attempt to help in a uncomplicated manner. Nothing needed to have been twisted or made to have looked unachievable.0 -

there's something creepy about someone who purely comes onto a thread about how hard someone is finding life through no fault of their own, then crows about how they're all sorted out come hell or high water. What on earth is their point? Why don't they just take out an ad in the paper?0 -
You're right, Ged. And she probably deserves one in general for how far this thread has deviated.
SLK1984, if you need any more support, please continue posting. Hope things are manageable for you at the mo.~Be true to your work, your word, and your friend~0 -
