    No. When I suggesting leaving this alone, I meant the silly, childish argument.

    Ged - glad you agree! Let's just work to help SLK, please don't waste any more valuable time on people who aren't worth it. :)

    Just as a point of note....

    Just because someone receives DLA it does not mean you can automatically get a car.

    If you receive High rate care but low rate mobility, you will not qualify for a motability vehicle.

    If you receive middle rate care but high rate mobility, you will qualify.

    The important thing here is the mobility component of DLA....you need to be awarded high rate (and that is only for those who are severely disabled and unable to walk any great distance or walking without aid, person or vehicle wise, would be too great a risk) to qualify for a mobility vehicle.

    Which is why I drive a 1993 Astra despite my youngest son receiving high rate care and low rate mobility (my other son, not the one who doesn't recieve DLA now) although one of his problems is a mobility one, just not severe enough to qualify for high rate mobility component.

    Another point of note - I obviously have internet (otherwise I would struggle to post right now!) and a computer, both of these were provided for by grants from the Disability Care Enterprise for my middle son.
    We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
    Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    You've got a cheek DD. You wouldn't have to go back and delete your posts if you hadn't contributed to the nonesense posted between yourself and WW. As for me looking daft! Take a long hard look at yourself. I pointed SLK1984 in the direction of her local MP and you had to criticise that. (Just noticed you've edited your post today, wonder why!!)

    You must have a very distorted view of criticism is you read the words "This is a great idea" and think I'm being critical. Please just go away carol and leave this thread alone.

    Woody and fruity, please just leave slk's thread alone. Can you not see that she and her hubby have real problems and doesn't need all this?

    If you want a row why not start your own threads or just PM me directly?

    Please look at SLK's problems and have a fking conscience.

    You are prolonging this DD by your constant posting. The fact that you have deleted and edited your post speaks volumes! Pity you didn't have a conscience about SLK1984 problems yesterday and still don't otherwise you'd stop.

    Hi SLK1984, I just wanted to write a quick message to wish you and your husband all the best with the future and especially with your current problem. Sometimes it looks as though your problems are never ending but i'm hoping that yours are sorted out soon and you and your family will be re-housed ASAP.

    I've just checked out a link about complaining to your MP:

    http://www.howtocomplain.com/cgi-php/complain1.php3?MajorID=8&MinorID=18&ID=1313

    That has the following statement:

    MPs can help you with your complaint if it involves central government or parliament and you can ask your MP to refer your complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. They are not there to help with local authority issues or with private disputes. Although many MPs will help with these issues, you will be far more effective making your complaint directly to the organisation responsible (local authority for example).

    So it's probably better to keep on at your Local Authority and your contacts within Shelter, etc. as this would be the most effective approach.

    Please keep posting in this thread to let us know how you get on.

    I totally agree here. And I as I think I mentioned before, the only option in taking it higher might be with the ombudsmen. The most likely to be effective, anyway.

    I would say that you have nothing to lose by going to your Local MP and I just had to look this up in an attempt to help you SLK.

    How can your MP help?
    MPs are generous with their help and advice, and they
    will generally try to assist their constituents with a
    wide range of problems. There is no job description
    for an MP and it is up to an individual MP which
    cases they take on. However, MPs are more likely to
    be able to help with problems concerning central
    government services such as:

    Benefits, pensions, national insurance, and
    other matters dealt with by the Department for
    Work and Pensions;
    Immigration and other problems dealt with by
    the Home Office;
    Tax problems involving the Inland Revenue and
    Customs and Excise;
    Problems with the NHS;
    Problems with the Child Support Agency;
    School grants and closures
    Problems with local authority services can be raised
    with a local councillor. Also, in Wales, Scotland and
    Northern Ireland some services are the responsibility
    of devolved assemblies and it may be better to contact
    your local member of these bodies.
    Your MP will generally do everything he or she can to
    help constituents but will not be able to support every
    cause and may feel that they are not the best person
    to help. If they are unable to help they may refer you
    to someone more appropriate such as a local
    councillor, the local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) or
    another local organisation. For legal advice, you may
    be referred to a solicitor.

    I hope this helps, good luck.
