Could be but sadly not, I have worked for what I have and I am pleased to say debt and mortgage free. :p I agree people say things on forums they would never say face to face but please don't assume that I am one of them.

We do not need to assume anything your actions speak for themselves, tell me why do you use moneysavingexpert? You clearly have no good advice to give yet you say you do not have ANY money problems, so why use a site that is here to help people with money? You are clearly a high flying god who has everything in life yet still feels the need to waste time slagging off genuine people on a forum designed to help. And you know what they say about people who have to brag about what they have!
    Woodworker wrote: »
Hypothetical and kind of irrelevant now as the mortgage is paid off, but had I been in that position then it would have been down to living on my wife’s wage and making some compromises to our standard of living.

Judging by how much you brag about how much money you have and how well catered for you will be in life when you need it i'm beginning to doubt the wife too!
    Woodworker wrote: »
Well if you’re talking about my situation with my wife working full time we could employ a carer. Or downsize using the equity in the property. The may also be the chance that the council would provide ground floor accommodation as I wouldn’t have any rent arrears.;)

There's a saying in life, what goes around comes around, you feel the need to laugh at my situation and 'big yourself up', all i have to say is its going to be a hard fall from that high horse of yours when something in life does go wrong for you and maybe you won't like it if there is a nasty person around like you that gives you a taste of your own medicine. How much is the equity in this great house of yours going to be worth, as you say the country is in economic decline and house prices are falling all the time, it wont be such a great way to provide for your future if nobody can afford to buy it from you will it.

A little difficult since the OP won't answer all the questios asked. Silverchair has asked again about borrowing the money to pay off the arrears from family but this question is continually being avoided.

This question has not and never has been avoided, how did you get to earn so 'well' when you have problems reading and are quite frankly just nasty?
    Woodworker wrote: »
Well I could have a mental disorder or I could be 14. Or maybe just, I’m one of the fortunate ones who are in the position you strive to be in. Think about it while you owe the mortgage company probably in excess of £100K paying all that interest each month while you house is depreciating in value and the country is sliding into economic decline. I have money put aside for the rainy day which is soon to come to us all.
The only sad thing about the current climate is interests rates are not at 15% plus so saving for a brighter future would be easier as we would see a real return on our savings. Roll on the day when shops are desperate to sell their luxury items and the consumer can take full advantage.

I do not think that after reading your posts anybody would strive to be in this position you say that you are in, it just shows money can't buy you a personality, thats if you do actually have any money that is.

I’m glad to hear that your OH has been able to get himself back to work. If this is the case then you more than deserve a nice home, sky tv, internet and the likes. As for having a car on the DLA so be it, if the powers that be decide you are entitled to it then why not. My point is if all the luxuries in life were freely available to those who don’t work (for what ever reason) then what would be the point in working? And more importantly where would the money come from to pay essential benefits if every one decided “I’ve got a bad back therefore I can’t work”?

Your example isn't quite fitting to my situation is it woodworker,
    “I’ve got a bad back therefore I can’t work”
Tell me what work my husband can do, he has a hip that has half missing and is turned the wrong way around, bone is constantly chipping away from this and he also has osteoarthritis which is part of having the hip disease, he is in constant pain with it, his leg is also an inch shorter than his 'good' leg, on top of this his has constant tinnutus, deafness in one ear and constant dizziness, how about you ask somebody to hit you in your hip with a hammer, wear a shoe that is higher up on one leg and put something in your ear that means you cant hear anything from it, then spin around the room (you know like children do) until you are totally dizzy and cannot even walk straight and imagine being like that 24/7, what job could you do?

quote=Woodworker;13141849]Yes, point taken. However if you’re all for strict rules and the OP’s local council rules are “No housing moves when your are in rent arrears”. Why should the OP be allowed a move until the arrears are cleared?[/quote]

So what you are saying is that if somebody is ill and on benefits because they cannot work that the council should not provide them with safe accomodation? Just because my husband had to come out of work and didnt get benefits straight away we should be punished by being forced to live in a property that is dangerous for him? Tell me as you say we are a waste of tax payers money how my husband or i will ever get back to work if people like you kick us when we are down and say live in a dangerous flat you have no rights, because we don't work because my husband is disabled are we not human anymore? Do we automatically forfeit all human rights just because mother nature decided one of us is going to be ill for the rest of our lives?
    Woodworker wrote: »
Yes, I can accept what you’re saying but we’re not possession of the full facts. Medical reports, the true state of the OP’s finances and what has and has not been done. Have we heard the other side to this argument or has any other party involved presented and evidence? No. I am therefore sure there is a reason for the situation, whether we like the answer or not.

What would you suggest woodworker? Would you like me to give you and the rest of the board a copy of my husbands medical notes and our bank statements on here? Since when did i have to give proof to ask for advice on a forum? If you do not believe me then that is your problem, if you would like to spend a week living my life then feel free, i don't think you would hack it with your views! I personally do not believe you are as care free as you would like us all to think, if you were you would not have to brag about it and kick people when they are down.

Sorry I thought a forum was for open discussion. Lets hear DD's medical qualifications from him thanks. Shame you off so I'll catch you in some other place.

What are your medical qualifications? I ask for help about a bad situation my family are in and you turn around and start slagging me off, and then you compare my situation to having a bad back, sorry if you are so clever how come you can confuse a bad back with a hip and ear disease? Wrong region of the body for a start!

I will no longer reply to any of your posts woodworker cause you are not worth it you are quite obviously a very sad lonely person that has to belittle other people to make yourself feel better about your own poor situation, you can say whatever you like about me from now on i will simply click on report post and ignore you.

Thank you to everybody who is helping with this for me it is much appreciated and i will reply to your responses when i get another free moment, maybe if we all ignore woodworkers existence he might crawl back under his stone or seek help for his bullying behaviour.

Hi SLK1984, glad you got that out of your system - and wise decision to ignore! It's incredible that Woodwork seems to think he's done nothing more than offer a different side to the argument after posting "You can afford the internet so pay off your debts." I hereby announce this wins the title for rudest and most pointless piece of 'advice' I have read so for on MSE. :D Keep us updated on your situation, especially if you speak to an MP. I'm rooting for you.
