Some of the Royal Canin feline diets are on BOGOF on the Pets at Home website.......short term offer till next Thursday if I remember correctly
Thanks, I spotted that the other day but they only have a select few on offer, none of which were on my shortlist, and they don't appear to even sell the Indoor diets
I did notice that vetuk.co.uk are currently selling RC Outdoor Mature at half price (£5) so thought I might grab a bag as a tester. I need wormers and ear cleaner so will be placing an order anyway.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Sorry to hear about the loss of one of your cats. I am glad I have more than one as it's horrible to lose a pet.
It would very helpful if you could post the details whenever you get a chance.0 -
I stick to the smaller packets as my assorted band of vagabonds and ne'er do wells don't like any dried food once it begins to go stale (after about a week), even though the bags are theoretically resealable. If I could be bothered to find a giant completely airtight container, I would buy a big bag for them.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

If you must feed cheap dried food mix it with better quality stuff like:
Burns
or
James Wellbeloved
if you buy online (see other posts at beginning of this forum) it will bring the costs down alot btw.
That's what I do when I'm skint!0 -
Also, if you're changing the food do it gradually, mix a little dry in with the wet and then increase it.
Suddenly switching could cause an upset stomach if it's a food the cats aren't used too.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

I also have very fussy cats and they will only eat Purina One. My vet once told me that giving a cat wet food is like eating McDonalds all the time therefore dry food is much better for them.0

thanks for advice my local tesco didnt have any dry bags of food last week so called at local pet shop bought them pro plan as its bogof there, i have cut their sloppy food from 4 packets a day to 2 packets a day which i share between them. Hopefully in a couple of weeks they should be on dry.0

Hi,
My cats eat the dried stuff from Tescos too, its a lot cheaper and lasts about two weeks for my two (one is a big cat nearly a stone in weight but not fat). I have water down for them all the time but the smaller one prefers to drink from the toilet, when you are on there he winds himself around my legs waiting for me to finish and flush!
I have heard that dry stuff is better for their teeth too and it is a lot cleaner than wet stuff except from where they chase each other round the bowl and then it tends to get spilt! But they seem to thrive on it, I find that even when you buy loads of the wet stuff it never lasts very long.........and its generally more expensive! For a special treat I will feed them tuna and the bigger cat has a bit of a thing for yoghuart and cheese but I never, ever give these apart from when he sneaks some (usually from my daughter). I caught the other one eating baked beans the other day!
But I find that dried stuff is definately better.0 -
Has anyone any suggestions on how I can get my cat to lose weight - he only has 3 legs and the vet says he needs to lose weight for his long term health.
I have tried taking the food away during the day - he then comes in and gorges his and our other cats (we have 2) food - and is then sick a minute later.
He gets fed Hills Science Plan - and I know this is protein rich so is not helping his weight gain - would it be better to change to a wet food?
The two cats share a food and water bowl - but the other one doesn't get a look in if the greedy one is there - and nor is she bothered as she seems to have an endless source of mice from the local area.
Any suggestions would be appreciated:beer:0 -
No - don't change to wet food.
Stay on dry - consider Burns. However whatever food you choose you will have to feed Mr Greedy separately to the other cats - lock him in a room by himself & feed the others first - when they have finished let him out. Get a measuring cup (most vets give them away free) & measure the food you are giving all your cats - will help with the dieting & your food bills!0
