Cat food questions - merged

My mums cat is 8 month old and is constantly hungry and when she eats she eats like shes never been feed.

You can feed her and as soon as she has finished her dish of food she will start crying for more and I mean really crying like shes not been feed. if you ignore her she will start scavenging around and eat anything she can find, I've even caught her eating fish flakes off the outside pond.

She has been wormed 2 month ago and she is getting a very round belly.

Is anyone else's cat like this?

    IS she pregnant?...........
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

If her belly is hard and shaped like a barrel it will probably be worms.
  • My two just won't eat anything else...!!! they are whiskas boys and I've now converted to pouches as i find them fresher and easier to control how much they are both eating!

I try and take advantage of the supermarket offers by checking out the biggies each week on mysupermarket.com to see if there are any good deals, but I don't know how to check the prices out from morrisons.

    thanks!

Why not look up the phone number of your nearest store and phone them and ask if there are any offers on the whiskas pouches? You can check their website for offers as well but I dont think it shows all offers, just a selection.

Yes good idea, the morrisons website is useless! Have signed up for their newsletter though so maybe any whiskas offers might come on that.

    thanks!
  • We often pick up cheap boxes in the reduced section of Tesco that are a bit battered or split.

Failing that I mix the wet food with dry to make it go further.

Can you not look in wilkinsons too - they do whiskas pouches and there are normally quite a few dented/broen boxes in their reduced section. I would take advantage of the offers if you can get them and i have no idea if these are sold in places liek makro etc but maybe that would be worth asking about too and try and buy soem in bulk.

Also have you written to whiskas themselves - sometimes if you write to a company praising their product they will send you some money off vouchers/coupons etc - this happened with me for pedigree chum. Maybe they will have a newsletter or send out offers like eukanuba do - im getting £1.50 off vouchers for puppy food though - my dog is 7 years old!
    Time to find me again
  • I had NEVER thought about looking in the damaged section before thanks for that tip!

I have one cat who hates his biscuits mixed in with wet and another one who does! I quite often split the pouches between them so none gets wasted as sometimes I can give them a pouch each then they'll go out for ages come back and no its just not fresh enough despite being covered up!!!

I really should take more advantage of the offers, I buy extra but not loads extra but I should do really, tesco were charging 2.25 a box of 12 a while ago now its over a £1 extra!

And yes I must write to whiskas soon I did do this with other cat food companies asking to try their food and I got a few vouchers, pouches and dried food so definitely worth asking!

    Thanks

My cat also turns his nose up at food that has been left in his bowl for a few hours. I find if I stir it up with a spoon - or even pretend to put some fresh food in the bowl - he will eat it quite happily!
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
