    Hi

I'm Anna & been lurking on these boards for ages, posting occasionally. I'm married with 4 kids (21, 19, 16 & 1 yr - only 2 youngest at home), work p/t at weekends, DH works f/t. Finances starting to tighten a lot in last 6 months, so have made a mid-year resolution to join in properly!!

Going to be more thrifty for the rest of the month, then start the various challenges at the beginning of August, well before DS goes to college.

Hoping to get it right this time after lots of false starts - can't afford to keep wasting food & other stuff!

    Hello All!!

I have been lurking for AGES cos I thought I couldn't log on, turns out I'm just dim!!

I'm a single, full time Local Government Slave, love my job and it pays well, but in my younger days I racked up the debt and now I'm paying it off... little by little.

I have 2 cats who are the fussiest babies in the land.... I swear they hunt out receipts for their food to check it's not cheap stuff!!

    Hello everyone,
I've been on here for a few months, but only just realised this sticky was here! I work full time as a manager for a high street coffee shop chain. I'm married, with no little ones or pets yet. I'm an IS'er because I'd rather spend my hard on pennies on more exciting things than groceries. Also I absolutely love cooking from scratch, which is good as I am such a fussy eater. I love to know exactly what is in my food.

I love a bargain, particularly from charity shops. I also love to recycle where-ever possible.

Hi, guess I shold have introduced myself when I signed up but instead I jumped in feet first as usual.

I'm 37 and have been a SAHM since moving to the UK in 2001.
I volunteered in a charity shop for 2 years but I decided that now is the time to change and I finally worked out what I want to do (I think:o).
I have just finished my ECDL qualification and will start an IT practitioners course in September and will also try to get a part-time job .
My DH works from home - he's a psychotherapist, no face to face consults though, only phonecalls 24/7 - and we are always distracting each other from getting anything useful done so me going out to work might be good for both of us.

I grew up in Sweden but moved here when I met my husband.
I have twin boys (14) from a previous marriage.

I like to challenge myself to spend less, eat better and reduce our waste whilst teaching my boys to do the same!

I hope we will be able to buy a house in a few years so I can grow more veg and also keep chickens and a goat.
I'm lucky in that DH wants the same.
Meanwhile we are waiting to get an allotment and growing peas and tomatoes on the flat roof of our extension as nothing much will grow in our tiny courtyard without sun.

Well, I'm another that should have introduced myself a whole lot sooner.:hello:

I am 19.......... well OK that's a lie... but I FEEL 19. I have three fab kids, 23. 22 and 17. Yes.......Ok......... quite a bit older than 19. I also have a fab dog who keeps me well walked and amused with throwing balls etc. I also have a tv addict for an OH. I am a reader, walker and veg grower. Seems to work OK.

I am a frugalite au naturelle and unlike a lot of people I know (present company excepted of course) I brag about reusing and making do and getting great bargains. I can't understand working hard for money only to waste it... it just don't make any sense. I have neighbours who work all the hours God sends just to pay the childminder, cleaner, a myriad local take away staff and even a dog walker. errrr HELLO!!!!

I am yet another wannabe writer and smallholding proprieteur (spling) (heavens how many of us share that dream... I lost count) I find mixing with people quite difficult :o they irritate me as a rule:o so I have managed to find a job where I don't have to 'do' people :D however it means I work silly unsociable shifts. I have tried to do a proper job and hated all the business speak, etiquette and Oh my Gawd the office politics!!! . There was strict rules of who I could and couldn't sit by or talk to..... I am too much of a rebel :p I caused all sorts of confusion and havoc. The waste of time and money holding pointless meetings and paying people to waste time doing their make up, chatting on the phone, sending those stupid e mails just drove me nuts.

I clean house when I think it needs it... a sort of... as and when... if I feel like it sort of system. My OH was very organised and tidy when I met him, everything in it's place etc. Military father. - One of us had to change.... and it certainly wasn't going to be me.:rotfl:

I am trying extra hard to save money to move to an isolated house with a small piece of land. I can't do the animals bit on my smallholding as I would definately name them and care for them till their dotage .... and then bury them and hold memorial services and everything!! No, veggies only on my plot ta. I am hoping to move before I am 22.... ok before I'm 50

    Well, that's me
