I just realised I hadn't introduced myself here either.
I'm currently a party shop owner and certified balloon artist (sounds a bit funny but it's nothing to do with balloon animals... I decorate for events and functions)
I'm also having a panic attack because next saturday I close my shop, on sunday I have my leaving party and on tuesday I fly to Australia, hopefully for good. And in the time between now and then I have 16 events to do, a whole shop to clear, my own party to organise and cater, a car to sell and all my stuff to squeeze into one suitcase.
Can't wait to be in Aus, but the getting there is rather a lot of work. And also, by the time I've sorted out paying everything off here, I'm about to land there with precious little cash... oh what fun. Fortunately we'll be living with my Bf's parents for a while.
Looking forward currently to having our own house with a decent veggie garden, fruit trees and some chickens... I plan to take OS to the extreme!! It helps that my BF's grandma is an Australian expert in permaculture, so I'm hoping I get some great advice there.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Thought it was about time I introduced myself as I have been reading the forums for quite awhile now
I am totally addicted to these forums and especially love the frugal side and the money saving side too.
So here goes:
I'm Natalie, or Natty as I am normally known. I'm 38, live in Kent with my DH and our animals, 2 cats and a bouncy dog. We are due to aquire two new additions to the family, another dog and another cat much to my DH's horror..lol
I don't work due to ill health, but I will admit I am happy pottering around at home and I always say I am a "housewife" or domestic engineer as I say to my DH. And I am always on the lookout on how to save money, especially as it would be my DH's money that I would be saving.
I love cross stitching, card-making, reading and the internet.
I belong to "Flylady" and have made several good friends through a flylady group.
Look forward to getting to know everyoneMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Oh, and I missed this too
Hi, I'm Nix, I'm a lurker mainly as I still can't quite get my SOA together - it scares the bejesus out of me everytime I go to write it. But I am an avid reader of the forums, this and debt free wannabe mainly.
I'm 36, soon to be 37, live in Lancashire, project manager, one son of 12. I help moderate another website COMPLETELY unrelated to this or anything financial - it's for butch-femme lesbians and it's a major part of my life. We've just marched at Brighton and Manchester Prides and they were amazing experiences.
Thanks to everyone for the input and support they give - thanks for taking the time to post - and thanks for creating such a wonderful community
Oh! And thanks for all the recipe ideas - I'm just about to get creative with chick peasComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Hello everyone :hello:
Love this site and have saved loads since joining, have stardrops and microfibre cloths now.
Im 34 and engaged to my boyfriend, will get married when I can find somewhere cheap!! to have a reception/meal for family.
I work for a rail company involving shifts, that's why i'm posting at this unearthly hour and partly why I picked my user name.
Have read loads of helpful posts on this forum and thank you all for taking the time to post all your ideas0 -
Been posting a while now, so should really give you a bit more information.
Married for 27 years to DH, no kids, which is useful in keeping the bills down. Leaves more money to pay for toys for us, which at the moment is motorbikes, but has been scuba diving and motor racing. I ride my own bike cos MIL (78) goes pillion on DH's.........
I grew up in an OS household but forgot those ways when I started to earn big bucks in London and set about acquiring the lifestyle to go with it. Those days became quite hollow and unfulfilling and I have downshifted to job with no responsibilities and very little pay! Love it to bits though! So having to set about the re-acquiring of OS habits - mam and aunties have now passed on to a better life, just wish I had listened a bit harder all those years ago......
We moved back to our native NE England 3 years ago and love it. My family think I have gone mad, but love eating all the home cooking and my niece and nephew get to do some mad messy crafting sessions!!!!!
The tips and advice on this site have made a big impact on our finances and our quality of life. So HUGE THANK YOU to all those on the OS thread in partic for this!! Long may it continue and see you on the threadEverything in moderation..............including moderation..............0 -
Ok, my turn then.
Hi All. Married with two lovely boys - 6 and 11. Lived in London for the past 20 odd years, before that sunny Teesside
I have only recently discovered MSE and for some reason keep gravitating towards OS......
OS has been absolutely fantastic for me. The downstairs of our house has never been so consistently clutter free and, whilst not quite spotless, is certainly bearable. i now have the Microfibre cloths and am debating which 'flavour' of Zoflora to buy. I still haven't seen any Stardrops yet, I'm starting to think it is some sort of cruel initiation thing amongst OS and they don't really exist
The down side of all this is that, having recently turned forty, my wife is now convinced I am having a mid life crikey, as I bang on about hotspots, cloths, make weetabix cakes with kids and generally enthuse about cleaning products. She is seriously worried. I'm tempted to start my first thread on this very subject, but we'll see how we go.
Hi to all the OSs and particularly the Flyladies who made me very welcome when I gatecrashed their thread!!!:dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Hey,
This forum is great isn't it? I'm 25, work as an administrator, though hopefully not forever. Currently preparing to tackle our back garden into submission and start growing some of our own veg with the help of half-price tools and milk-carton plant pots!
Looking for lots of money saving tips, I live with my OH and a dribbly cat in birmingham - money's fairly tight, but food is our biggest extravagance once bills are accounted for! some room for improvement there for sure.
Been a lurker for a while (ever since my old haunt got banned by the IT dept - can you tell I don't have a lot of work to do?!) and can't wait to get started posting properly.0 -
Hi all,
Love this site, especially the OS board.
I'm 35 and live with my DH and 3 year old son on a boat, we're moored in a village just north of Milton Keynes.
I work p/t so money is tight, I'm really getting into OS ways as we need to get the money together to finish fitting out the boat - we've lived on this one for 2 years and still we haven't got a proper bedroom or anywhere to hang clothes! (although DS's room is finished and looks great!) But now the friend who's going to build wardrobes/bookcases/desk etc in our bedroom has come up with some plans and I love them - it's really made me determined to tighten our belts so he can start a.s.a.p.
Love reading all your posts - you are an inspiration!

My name is Jen and I've been lurking around here for the past couple of months - bought very first bottle of Stardrops three weeks ago!!! (and yes, I have used it!! :rotfl: ) I'm 24, work full time helping to run the family lingerie business while I finish my MA and have been married to DH for 18 months. We have one cat (very drooly) who will only eat very expensive Whiskas cat food. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I sit him in front of the computer and explain it all to him, he just won't eat anything cheaper! My hobbies are knitting, baking, swimming and reading the boards every day.
So hello! Thanks for all inspiring tips that I have 'borrowed' over the past couple of months....one day I might have my own useful tip to share :j
