    Will do!

Made a batch of my own toothpaste tonight, so simple.

Equal parts of coconut oil and bicarb, some sweetener to taste and a few drops of spearmint oil.

You did use edible spearmint oil I hope

Oh and meant to say, I love the quilt idea - what a true labour of love that will be :)

    Two questions about your toothpaste
1- how do you store it?
    2- edible spearmint oil?
Ok, number 2 isn't exactly a question but I'm sure someone can explain. I'd like to make toothpaste, what a great idea!! :j

    Hi all

Just wanted to say that I have had my epiphany today, I was shopping in a well known supermarket and realised when picking up ready made pastry, that I could make the same for pennies compared to spending a pound on the ready done stuff (which doesn't taste as nice as fresh anyway). It just made me think of how much I have thrown away over the years for the sake of laziness.

I'm a busy single mum and full time(ish) student and don't have the money to throw away. I suppose I have kind of been Old School for a while in some ways (the baby has washable nappies and we never have any food from a jar/packet) but I never realised how far things could go without changing too much.

I've had a bit of a lurk today before picking up the courage to say hi. Just wanted to say thanks for inspiring me with ways to avoid waste, recycle more and hopefully save some money.

    Emm

Try as I might, my home made pastry is horrible! I've followed every recipe under the sun, to the letter! And my pastry is still horrible! I have to stick to Mr S's 'ready made' to save myself and my family from breaking our teeth on my pastry efforts!

Store it in a little pot with a lid (I used a thoroughly cleaned out face mask pot from a well known high street natural beauty product store, the one that my mum says can be smelt from down the high street), just dip the toothbrush into it to use.

Used food grade EO, cjez, others are only suitable for external uses/aromatherapy etc so can't safely be used in the mouth as the toothpaste would be. A friend gave me the recipe as I already use coconut oil as a nappy cream on the baby so have a huge stash of it, it is anti bacterial making it excellent to use as a toothpaste.

  • Hi, married for 31 years this year, have 5 cats (persians) no kids..... Work as an IT Trainer but have resigned and looking forward to working from home with my business which has been in existance since 2009 - so just restarting where I left off to do more my own thing, and have a better work/life balance.

I am very happy to spend less as I will be losing £26k pa - scary, but needed to do it - needed a change of environment. Now need to get things moving quickly and earning money as hubby can't pay everything on his wages..... or we won't be eating!

I work full time but am off at the moment, so spending far more time surfing the net than usual. I usually post in the PPI reclaim area, but I'm branching out now :)
