Hi
I am a single mum to two girls aged 3 and 4. My eldest starts primary school this year. I dont work at the moment but over the next 12 months i plan to either try and start a business ive been thinking about for a while or get back into study and do a degree in psychology.
im forever looking at ways to save money and trying to feed my family as cheap as possible but whilst also keeping it healthy.
Im on a debt management plan at the moment with CAP (christians against poverty) and my debt is hopefully going to be paid of in a year and a half.
I have many different hobbies and interests. I lke crafting, reading, singing, online mmo games, nature, theatre and I would love to travel at some point in my life.
Most of my time though is taken up being a mum and trying to give my girls happy times.
Im not great at keeping upto date with forums/posts but I will try my best!0 -
hi to everyone. lv been a memeber of mse for a long time but hardly ever posted on here which lm now going to to change that.l just love this site and read up on it daily, so l think its about time l gave something back.l have 3 grown up kids, all left home now so have plenty time to direct my energy to lots of moneysaving, which is hard at times as l have ME quite bad.l cant get benefits for ME l try to help with our low wage by working from home, when lm well. l try to keep to a structured day as if l was working in a office, doing surveys, comps, lots of home testing products, writing clothes and music reviews ,magazine letters and lots of coupon collecting.l have a little garden which with hubbys l manage to grow all our own salads, fruits and herbs we need all yr.hubby does most of the cooking mostly old style and we are very contented with this 'good life'. As l cant live in a cottage in the country, l bring the 'country'to us.0

Hello everyone, I'm an agronomist!
(posh for someone who looks after the land aka farmer/smallholder!)
One grown up DD who lives in the local big city,
One teenage son, still eating everything in sight at home!
OH fixes cars(and drives the tractor).
Joyfully both self employed.
Today was homemade parmesan and sun dried tomato sourdough rolls, which I can do because I am my own boss:D and my tea break can be 40 minutes!
I like to be prepared for anything which my DD doesn't quite undersatand, but then again she doesn't have powercuts that can last up to a week! Joys of country living!
Oh and we live in a portacabin, no central heating, grow alot of veg (I have 150 courgette plants to plant anyone fancy helping?), read alot, cook from scratch alot
(anyone with a good leek recipe let me know, I have alot left :S and leek gratin and soup and stew are getting repetitive)
and I like CAKE!
Thats me:P
I forgot to mention I like cats..I have 15! Thats alot of catfood every month:D)2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD0 -
Hi everyone, my name is Sara, I'm 26, live by the seaside with my OH and kitty
I've been a member since 2011 but wasn't very active and forgot my log in details but I'm back now!!
I live quite a simple life, work full time in recruitment (still a trainee so still waiting for the money to roll in  ) OH works n customer service but works permanent late's so we only see each other weekends
Most of the time we keep ourselves amused on the cheap (watch telly mostly!) But soon as the weather pulls itself together we can take advantage of the gorgeous beach down our road.
So that's me, oh I'm also a shopaholic which explains my debt, not so much for the finer things in life, just shopping in general so once I've taken back a load of clothes to be refunded, I will be cutting up the credit card!!
Anyways, off to enjoy my lazy Sunday of cooking and watching come dine with me!
Much love

Hello:wave:
I'm a very long term lurker, deciding to pop up and take a more active role. I'm 50-ish, female, live with a v. non OS OH, who's just retired on a miniscule pension, plus our 2 year old rescue dog. Have 1 DS, currently living in N E England. I work full time currently, have always been the main earner, but there are big changes afoot in the industry within which I work over the next 9-12 months. I can see my role as one which the powers that be will deem unnecessary:(. I've always been o/s but need to do more to get the savings up and stocks of expensive essentials in. My freezer is always a sea of yellow anyway, but now to save even more money.
I'm still a bit shy of posting and saying the wrong thing, so please bear with me:o0 -
Welcome cymraesfach, know what its like to have an unOS OH, haven't found an answer yet, so sympathy is all I can offer.

Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to posting but have been a lurker for a while though. I'm a widow who has been working part time to keep roof over head at least, but have just had to retire early because of arthritis. So now I really have to concentrate on money saving ways.
As I grew up in a time and place where stretching food was a necessity not an option I hope I can reinstate all the money saving ways my mother and grandmother taught me.:)
I also live by the sea and the view from our windows is a constant delight - even in bad weather. Though the exposure to sea 'breezes' can be less of a pleasure.
That's me I think. Good to meet you all.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Hi all!
I am 26, live by the sea with my lovely partner.
I've just finished a university degree in Social Work and fortunately went straight into employment with my last placement, though not as a Social Worker, ah well!
I saved to put myself through university (although have normal student debt) and now am back to saving for a deposit for my first home.
Keep doing one step forward and buy cheap, cook at home etc, and then do one step back - today I got the bus to work rather than walking and bought lunch from an expensive shop - making myself return some shoes I bought on a whim, so maybe I'll learn not to buy them in the first place with the guidance on here keeping me on track!
- NxSaving since 2005 --> September '13: 37,800! Mortgage deposit saved!0
