Long term lurker!
I'm saving for my wedding (November 2014) and finally getting to grips with this MSE thing even though I've been a member for years.
I'm 26, work full time (off sick just now) and I'm a full time wheelchair user whelich has made me very lazy when it comes to shopping. I've realised that I've not one single yellow sticker in my freezer because I always get things delivered now.
I'm hoping to get my freezer nice and yellow again and I've joined the grocery challenge to help with that.0 -
Hello Everyone,
I have been lurking on the board, and the site in general for over 2 years now. The time has come to stop being shy and post more!
You are a wonderful bunch of people who have given me inspiration in some of my darkest times in life so far. So I just wanted to say a big thank you for the time and effort you put in. It has helped me through some very tough times.
I am 33, married with a 2 years old son and work part time.
So hear is to many more posts!

hiya everyone! I've been lurking on these boards for faarr too long now and i'm always drawn to the old style board... I used to work full time (as did my boyfriend), he's now working extra shifts but I've started studying nursing at uni so my pay has cut drastically!
Ive not long turned 25 (eek!) and in the house its me, my b.f and my two kitties, I realised I had to get a grip the other week when I went to asda the other week and spent £75 on shopping for us and I honestly could not tell you anything of substance I got (it lasted less than a week!!!) so im getting an asda delivery next week after my bursary is through (60 for a months worth of food - other than bread and fresh salad/fruit) and my slow cooker arrived today (as I made my b.f a valentines card!) I will do this0 -
Welcome to you all

This is my first ever post, after many months of lurking, especially on the old style boards.
I work full time as a nurse, so plenty of shift work. OH is part time doing delivery work and also househusband (don't tell him I called him that, he hates it).
Have 11 year old DS who has ADHD and recently been diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome too, and 4 cats and a dog.
Struggled with debt all through my early 20's due to exBF running up huge bills  wish i knew then what i do now about money saving, budgeting, meal planning etc, would have made a HUGE difference to our lives. Still, all in the past now.
Love all the OS ideas recipes and tips iv'e picked up on here, especially cooking from scratch.Combined with my couponing obsession and using certain deal sites, and money saving pages on F***book, my bank balance is looking much healthier and the wedding saving fund is steadily growing. (15/06/2013)
Going to enter the march Grocery challenge so I can see how much i am spending and then try and decrease it.
Also looking forward to joining in the OS weight loss thread, as started the 5:2 diet in order to lose a few ponds before the wedding. Love the SHTF thread, I'm a bit of a novice prepper (OH was most surprised to find latest online shop included 60 tins of beans, price glitched £1 for 6 so couldn't resist :rotfl:.) Anyhow, that's me, wasn't so scary posting as I'd thought it might be.:j Good things come to those who coupon. :j

Hi all,
Thought I would post and introduce myself. I've been on the Debt Free Wannabe forum for about a month but am drawn to the OS board as I really like this sort of money saving.
I'm married and have two daughters aged 3 and 6. I work as a service manager in a research laboratory. I really love my job but its quite full-on at times so I'm always after time saving tips as well as money saving ones. DH works in sales which is a rather rocky profession to be in at the moment.
We're in a bit of debt after building an extension on our house which went over budget and also just spending a lot more than we earn. We want to get this payed off asap and then start overpaying the mortgage.
At the moment I'm re-discovering cooking from scratch. I'm trying to do as much of this as I can at the weekend so that we can have nice meals during the week and aren't so tempted by takeaway pizza. The freezer is my friend!
Thank you all for the all the fab ideas and tips so far!Total Debt at LBM (Dec 12) 22,255.26

Welcome How Did That Happen? Glad to see you here, and I know exactly what you mean about re-discovering cooking from scratch. A lot of the first things I learnt to cook were based on convenience meals and my freezer was groaning with homemade lasagnes and chilli con carnes.
Hope you continue to enjoy it here, and if you have any questions, just ask - there'll be someone here that knows.

Thanks for the warm welcome, am looking forward to getting involved in a few challenges and and saving even more money. I really enjoy cooking from scratch and definitely find it cheaper and healthier.
Better go and get ready for another night shift, have a good evening everyone.:j Good things come to those who coupon. :j

I'm a newbie to this posting lark, but I have lurked for many years and followed the advice! I've always been private about debt and I'm a bit hesitant about talking figures.
I'm the mum in a family of four along with hubby and our two boys. Hubby works full time and earns well but has to spend a lot on commuting. i work part time and I am hoping for a few extra hours at work soon.
We've managed to get rid of all our debt (except £160k mortgage and a 0% car loan), we now have £3500 of savings. Our mortgage has another 20 years left but I'd like to do it in ten years, hence the user name. My youngest should be leaving school then.
Basically I want to strip our outgoings to save as much as possible without compromising our lifestyle. I have done what I can with bills, negotiated a fair bit off my Sky and mobile contracts and I am proudly the only house in the road paying council tax at Band D rate, all the others are Band E.
We spend about £100 a week on food/toiletries/cleaning products etc and this is way too much. We also have one or two take aways a week, which is included in this £100.
I'd like to get this down to £60 a week. OS is definitely the way to go. I have a bread machine and slow cooker so I can hopefully make more use of these with a bit of encouragement. I hope you can help!
I'd really like to do a diary, is there a section anywhere I'm missing like in the Debt Free Diaries or Mortgage Free Wannabe?0
