Hi! I'm not exactly new to this, but I am back for the first time in around 2 years.
I'm a full time teacher at a secondary school, specialising in woodwork and electronics, and teaching food tech as well as that.... And running a cub pack and helping with scouts on top of that too! I have a boyfriend who lives elsewhere, but spends most weekends at mine munching his way through my fridge (but provides wine in exchange, it's a tough deal)
I'm aiming to save this year - I have a reasonably large extra payment due at the end of January, and having been through my bank account it turns out I have more money than I thought after everything disappears, so this years aim is to find out where it's going, stop it, and put it somewhere sensible!

Diet: 60lbs this year - so far: 0.50 -
I've been lurking on here for years, but I'm hoping that taking a more active role will make me actually apply all these ideas. I cook everything from scratch, but there's far too much food wastage and general frittering.
I need to get my expenditure under control - due to maintenance from my ex I have more money now than I ever will in future, and I need to learn to live on much less to prepare for my income levels after my children leave home.
I have two children, aged 8 and 11, and I work part-time as a childminder and study for a masters degree the rest of the time.0 -
Hi, I have a regular job working in Admin 28 hours /week. Mum to DS x 3 ages 13, 17 and 23 - all living at home.
DH is S/E and works from home doing Gardening and DIY (weather permitting) and p/t DJ to make ends meet..
Have mortgage on our 3 bed semi, which is cheaper than it would be to rent a house like ours, so feel we are living as cheaply as possible, but still areas for savings.
Love reading inspirational posts about how other folks are getting by, day to day in the struggle to keep body and soul together and stay sane!keep smiling,

Hi all,
I've been lurking for years, want to actually get involved now though, rather than dipping in for ideas as I tend to not stick to anything (as the location of both vinegar and Stardrops at the BACK of my cupboard shows!).
I'm a full time care worker, and have a smaller part time job with some voluntary stuff. OH also works full time but has a hefty loan to pay off. Together we must be losing money somewhere, but can't quite work out where so hoping to fix the leak and therefore be able to save some pennies! We both have lots of stuff we want to do, but it all needs money and we're only just getting by right now.
Hope to get to know some of the people round here, going to get involved in a couple of challenges to try and motivate myself to actually stick with it this time.0 -
Hello. I'm currently a single mum who's looking to get the best out of my money. I have always wanted to be serious about money, but ex enjoyed spending it. Cannot wait to start trying some of the recipes and trying new cuts of meat..... Already found the joy of buying a chicken and making several meals for my little girl and I.0

After many years of watching and learning some great things from all you fab people, I have finally decided to sign up and learn more 'legitmately' and hopefully contribute too.
Our household is myself, DH and twin sons (4).
Things have been tough and are likely to stay that way for a while so I hope being on here fully instead of just lurking will help.
Current focus is on continuing to reduce shopping budget, properly meal plan and have as many NSD's as possible so I'll be mainly on GC and checking out the recipe indexes too.
Also need to declutter the house and start a flylady routine over the coming weeks.
I'm looking forward to regaining control of things.
Thanks

Hello,
I've begun to get quite addicted to this website, so thought I'd join in for extra motivation to save the pennies!
I live with my soon-to-be husband & two cats. My OH works full-time, as did I, until Oct, when I was made redundant. Due to finding it hard to find another job with my various chronic health problems, I'm a full-time housewife, trying to make our very modest budget go as far as possible, which has made an already 'Old-Style' person become ever more OS!
I've joined the GC & in time, will most likely join some other challenges.

Hi all.
This is my first post- although I have been lurking for months!
I work full time for the MOJ and I'm 'mum' to two dogs, a cat and two horses.
My fianc! and I are saving for our first house so I'm hoping to get more money saving inspiration from you guys!0 -
Hello to all
I'm a recently separated mum of two, DS (12) and DD (9). Threw not so dear H out after finding out he had been messing around with someone at work. Realising just how strong I can be despite being heartbroken. MSE and particularly lurking on OS forums have kept me sane on difficult evenings once kids are in bed, so thank you to everyone. Favourite is decluttering thread, very therapeutic although I am getting a bit obsessed. Determined to do ok on reduced income following my separation, also for the house (and me) to look fab and to at least give the appearance of coping brilliantly to not so dear H. MSE and forums are helping greatly with my motivation to get on with life, keep busy and keep smiling.
I work 4 days a week, thank goodness given my recent change in circumstances, but my life is my children, my home and my garden.
Keep Smiling0
