Hi all,
I am a mother of two, working full time (almost), and just about to become newly single (eek).
I have found many bargains through this site over the years, but am now looking at it in a different way - the good old fashioned money-saving aspect, instead of the buying bargains for the sake of it aspect - which is what I have been doing!
I am secretly absolutely petrified of not managing to make ends meet, and am having to start analysing expediture, and cutting back, in every way possible.
I know that all you lovelies out there will help me (whether it be indirectly or not!), and I hope that i can contribute something back in return :-)0 -
Hi thought I would introduce myself. I have been lurking on and off for a while and seriously need to save some money and eat better as hoping to get married at some point (no date set as want to make sure we have deposits etc before plunging headlong into planning).
I live with my partner of 6 years (known each other for 12), 10 year old daughter, 2 fish and one very peculiar hamster (thinks she's a dog). I work full time (but classed as part-time) for the local council mainly doing night shifts and other antisocial hours in Lincolnshire. I am currently trying to get frugal and old school about my home making and really enjoying it. Rag rug course in the next couple of weeks.0 -
Hello! Newbie here! I'm a 23 year old vintage/retro fashion lover. I work from home as I set up my own small business 2 years ago when I lost my job as a secretary.
Just getting used to finding my way aroundxo

I expect that there a good number of stay at home full time parents, maybe some of us work at home, perhaps some are part-time workers that can use the computer at work or at home or both. I guess also that there are some students out there and I'm really intrigued by the people that post after midnight, are they shift workers or night owls?
Just to start the ball rolling - I work at home as a full time ebayer selling china and antiques (that is - should be working when I stop cruising around MSE) and our family is late teens /early 20's so don't need too much attention, just money, both are still in full-time education which is one reason why I'm here constantly searching for ways to make ends meet. We have consoled ourselves with the idea that we can be a drain their finances when we are old and dodderyWe have 4 wonderful cats, one ginger tom plus a tabby mum and her 2 boys, one is creamy beige the other is black /white /tabby
I'm coming up to 50 (where did the last 25 years go?) My husband works at home too, which is great, we can take time off together but in practice rarely do as we're too busy trying to keep a large pack of wolves from the door. I love my kitchen garden which keeps us self sufficient in strawberries, summer veggies and salads.♥♥♥0 -
I have 2 chihuahuas too! Such lovely little dogsrubberbiscuit wrote: »Ooooh, I have 2 chihuahuas and a chi x mini daschshund!!:D They have been living the frugal life for quite a while with home made dog biscuits and raw food! (going to be getting their second freezer this year so I can really make the most of bulk buying!!LOL).
I thought I should join up here when I kept googling "can I freeze----" and being directed here. Im in my late *ahem* thirties and working part time (through choice as I like my sanity!!). Luckily I jumped in the housing market about 6mths before I wouldnt be able to afford it so I have a nice little house which is drafty, leaky and appears to have been plastered about 100 yrs ago!:D
Im trying to live a simpler life and will be avidly reading any cooking or household hints. Also planning on trying to utilise my tiny garden to grow some of my own produce....maybe just some salad and potatoes this year. Maybe I can save some money along the way to spruce up my house too. Looking forward to sharing tips!!♥♥♥0 -

Hi all
I was the occasional lurker on the MSE forums for about a year, but it became more addictive so I decided to join! Everyone is very friendly and non-judgemental.
I'm 23, work for a children's charity (which I enjoy and am keen to pursue a career in that field), live in Zone 2 London with my OH, who is the love of my life. I am an English Lit graduate, have lived & volunteered in Colombia for 2 months, and Barcelona for 1 month, and adore any sort of 'off beaten track' travelling.
I love all types of food, so I often hang around the recipe pages. In fact, I can't really think of any food I don't like!:)0 -

Hello. I've been lurking on the old style boards for a while now (in fact reading them has become my guilty lunchtime pleasure
) and thought it was about time I actually 'came out' (so to speak).
So here goes, I'm in my forties, have four kids: two at university; one a teenage hoodie; and an eight year old. I work in the public sector so to the current government I am public enemy number one and the cause of all our nation's ills what with my gold-plated pension and all thatOh and I also have a husband (almost forgot about him)
I have been skint for years and just as things were starting to get a bit easier financially, the two oldest decide to go to Uni (hence large parental contributions) and my work start making people redundant so it's back to penny pinching and trying to make ends meet again. Ho hum :undecided0 -
Hi Bogwoppit [love that name] and everyone else.
I'm a SHM with a husband 2 grown up sons 2 chickens 2 cats and 2 horses to care for, oh and a large veg patch too.0
