  • Hello All - am not sure if did this when originally signed up but eitherway my life is very different to then anyway!

I am in my very late twenties, and work full time as a care assistant, which is rewarding but doesn't pay a huge amount, though shift allowances do help... I split from my fiancee of nearly 9 years a couple of months back, which has been hard going, especially as I had a cancer scare and major surgery earlier this year plus a few minor illnesses along the way, which resulted in a long time off work and I only just started getting back into normal life when we split. I am fairly good with my money, no debts at all, and have been living with friends since the split but its not ideal long term and I am about to move house within walking distance of work, where the rent is also cheaper - which will allow me to save more easily as no petrol costs either!

I adore cooking mostly from scratch and happy to pay for good food, however I need to lose a couple of pounds and not a great meat eater. I have no idea on how much I should budget as was used to budgeting for two for so long, and last few months have just been eating through stuff I moved with supplemented by the far to frequent pop to the shops! Like the idea of following a meal plan and the MSE site makes me feel I can achieve anything :)

Saving makes me feel happy, though no idea now what am saving for! With the ex we were saving for a house and to make a family but now footloose and fancy free, so to speak! No way on earth I can afford to buy locally (just outside of London) on my wages even with a good deposit!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

  • Hi  I'm 39 married with 2 teenage children, I work part time as a nanny and my hubby works full time like most people I'm trying to juggle working, running a house, being a mum etc financially I could really do with working full time but nannying is long hours often 7am-7pm and I don't want to be away from my family that long every day, I have been lurking for a while and with all the help and advice from this board we are managing to stay afloat with me working part time, I enjoy cooking and have managed to get my grocery shopping bill down to £65 per week over the past year, my eldest has mild asperger syndrome and can be quite challenging at times but my youngest is really easy going so I can't complain.

30, single bloke working as a software engineer on a low wage with debt coming out my ears, 2 kids on child support and car insurance costing me £1500 per year.

That's all I have to say on the matter.....
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
  • Hi everyone

I'm a 26 year old living alone, full time student, part time retail assistant, even more part time piano teacher! I have my own rented house, which is so amazing to have but so expensive to keep, even if my mum's my landlord!

I used to be on benefits not so long ago, but took the plunge from relative financial security into the dark scary world of worrying how to make things meet.

I've been a lurker here for quite a while, and all your ideas have made living so much more bearable.

    See you around :)

  • Hi all!

Well i'm 29 (way too close to 30 for my liking!), single, no kids, work in Procurement doing systems training and actually, dare I say it, love my job! I'm on a mission this year to buy a house and learn to drive (bit of a late starter on that one!). I love creative photography, it's my escape from reality after a long day in the office :) I have a not-so-secret crush on Martin Lewis! I should stop now, I think i've revealed too much... :rotfl:

    Hello everyone,
I've been reading about you all, and thought I should tell you a bit about myself - if you're interested!
I'm in my 50's, my husband is retired and we have 2 grown up daughters still at home, saving up for their own homes.
I work part time, and most of the time I really do enjoy my job. :)

Hi, Im a 26 year old mum of three, the oldest just turned 7 and the youngest turned 1 a couple of days ago :( I am a stay at home mum while my partner works full time as a dairy worker. We also have three Chihuahuas :D
Money isnt too bad at the moment (although God knows weve had our fair share or money troubles; ) however we are in a place at the moment where money is good, we just need to work on getting our food bill down as it is currently at around the £570 mark and we are not left with anything at the end of the month with it so high! Am also hoping to have a venture down the slow cooker route and work on getting my petrol down a little.
Anway! Thats about it really! :D
    :)
