  • Greetings all,

Long time lurker and have also fallen off the wagon (too often :o) but now am determined to become a good little MSE' er !

Wife to lovely man and mummy to two lovely children DS 5 and DD 3 who are slowly learning about money too - well I hope so a little bit do as I say and not as I do sometimes !

Have been part time employed (3 days per week) but as of the start of the summer hols finished that job (had been in 11 years full time until DS was born) and was very very very lucky to find a full time / term time only post in a local school :T, so my starting date is looming Sept) , at the moment very worried about being the new person after so long !!!

Loving my garden at the moment and spending as many hours as possible converting the very unsightly bottom half into veggie / chicken home paradise !!!

I have been inspired after making my first home made blackberry wine last year and entering it in our local show and coming first !! The thing that I loved about that wine was the fact that myself and the kids picked all the berries one lovely summer afternoon and everytime I saw it bottled I thought of that day :)
So you can imagine what I have been up to lately, yes scratched arms and purple fingers but triumphant in that I have another gallon on the go, oh and also some sloe gin as I found a huge sloe bush whilst picking - Gosh I love the little stuff !

I also talk way too much, just give me a nudge if I start to babble .....

    Hey all :hello:

I'm a regular MSE'r and I have posted on the OS board a few times, but wanted to introduce myself properly.

I'm 27 and have just moved into my first home all by myself (I have lived with friends and boyfriends before but this is first time solo!). I live in a lovely rented 2 bed flat by the sea in South Wales :D

My flat has all mod cons including tumble dryer and dishwasher, which I'm determined not to use unless a dire need arises! Currently my washing is drying on an airer on the balcony in glorious sunshine.

My family are quite OS and I have inherited many OS ways. I always freeze leftovers, I often batch cook so I haven't got to cook every night. I am veggie and often use beans and pulses to bulk out food.

My parents grow a lot of veg in their garden and will hopefully be donating some to me ;) I have a nice sized balcony on which I plan to grow some herbs and lettuce and other things.

I've also inherited my parents old breadmaker but i don't eat much bread so I may not use it often.

  • Hello All,

I have been amember of MSE for a very long time, but somehow I never got round to introducing myself properly. Well, its a new month, so a new start.

I am Mags Sale, married to Alan and living in beautiful Cornwall. We dont have any children together (apart from 2 cockatiels), but Alan has 3 grown up children from a previous marriage. Together the kids have 5 children of their own so we are also grand-parents.

I love MSE. Old Style is my favourite, but I do 'channel-hop' across the forum and post every now and then. I am also addicted to Facebook, (and Pet Society), so I truly do believe that the W.W.W is a Godsend!

I have been on (and off) the Old Style wagon several times (too many bumps in the road), MUST TRY HARDER.

Anyway, back on topic. Its great to meet you all. I have met some good friends from this forum, and I am sure you will too. Only a couple of us actually bite (and the rest of us will, if you pay us enough), so dont be frightened.

Join in, share and have fun.

    Thanks for popping by.

    Hi everyone,

I'm Hannah on the Isle of Wight (as my username may suggest ) and I am a newbie! Have started batch cooking etc, and trying to cook mostly from scratch as often as I have the energy. I am 24, currently without a job due to being 'constructively dismissed'... I am looking into a tribunal on that one. Try to save money when ever I can though sometimes that does go out the window.

My mum has said she has a slow cooker I can have :T though no idea what to cook in it?? Plus our electric is a kind of pay as you go affair... do these slow cookers use much? I have a bread maker hidden away somewhere too which I will try out 'one day'...

    So anyway Hi :D

  • Hi, I'm an OS newbie (although I've been lurking for a long time) so I suppose I'd better introduce myself!

I'm 34 and I live in Merseyside with my OH and 2 children, DS 10, DD 13, nearly 14 and our lab, pointer cross puppy. OH DS is 2 and he sees hm twice a week . We both work full time and our hours can be erratic at times.

I love cooking, baking, reading and enjoying the outdoors!

My OH has a mountain of debts from his previous relationship (neither him or his ex where very OS) . I've never had any debt as I always try to save for things rather than buy on credit, and live within my means. So currently trying to convert OH to this way of thinking :D.
  • Hi,
Im also a complete newbie to these boards and looking forward to saving money and getting life/home/money etc on track.

Im recently unemployed due to health reasons so now a full time stay at home mum. I have a hubby and 2 children (10 & 11)

At home i am known as the takeaway queen but hopefully that will change now as im going to make a real effort to cook/make food and I will try to do housework every day (eek)(just have to work out where to start)
 Any hints/tips advice is appreciated :D
  • Hiya all,
I'm Sally, I'm 24. I've been a member about a year, but would like to come out of lurk-dom!
I was brought up in Northamptonshire primarily, but now live in my own small rented house in Newbury, which I moved into just over a year ago. I work as a Year 1 teacher in the neighbouring town, which keeps me incredibly busy, but satisfied.
Despite what others might think, being a teacher doesn't pay too well, and financing a house and car on my own stretches my finances quite a lot. So anything to shave off some pounds is much appreciated!
Because it's fun to have money!

    Hi all

I'm Mythi...I work full time and I am a 40 something single mom of a 14 (going on 40) year old daughter, two cats and an allotment!! I've always been a bit of a 'make do and mend' person but having lurked on this forum for some 2 years now I find I am trying to embrace OS more and more into our routines.

Thank you for your inspiring posts and for all your help so far :)
