Hi, I've been lurking for a few weeks too and joined today. I'm single mum to dd whos 4 and work part time in the NHS. My main reason for joining is to get out of the 'spend' mentality I've had since before I had my dd and try to save for the things I want for us both.
I've picked up loads of tips whilst I've been reading and am hoping to have enough cash left at the end of the month for a slow cooker. Saving towards something rather than buying it on CC is a new thing for me. Only 2 more weeks to wait now though!

Hello everyone - another lurker here. Live with dh and 3 large dogs (2 gsd`s and an elderly lab cross). I have been trying to stick to our budget of £145 a month, including dog food for ages but thanks to all you lovely peeps on here this is the first month I`ve actually managed it!!! I`m now looking at ways to reduce it, as my mum used to say - never satisfied LOL

    Hi,

I am 30 and live near Edinburgh with OH. I have been posting on other topics for a while but have only just started to look at the OS threads. I have always kept an eye on my money and am always looking for better ways to do things. I am trying to do more of the cooking in the house and in doing that trying not to be wasteful as my mum taught me (using left overs in other meals etc)

Hello, I live in Scotland and am self employed.
We have a mortgage on a One Account and at the current rate of paying (overpaying), we have about 7 years to go.
Two sons, one 18 and about to go and do voluntary work for a year way from home (I am very proud of him for this) and the other (20) just starting University away from home.
The rent for his student flat has just blown a big hole in our income. We could insist he took out a Student Loan, but we both feel that we don't want to saddle him with debt when he is starting out. He's been working and living away from home for two years and is debt and credit card free so he has a sensible head as far as money goes.
So, I am looking to economise and the household is about to shrink from four to two.

I'm a Tightwad Gazette owner... my husband calls me Amy when he thinks I am getting too extreme!

    Hi Everyone :hello:
I am Muddles and I just want to say I am so loving this site. I have been lurking for quite a while and have got so addicted to reading all the past threads etc and noting the fantastic tips. I probably will not post very much but I am so enjoying all the fabulous advice. I am a more mature single  lady not working at the present time but have been worrying about money for a while mainly regarding how much I spend on Groceries. The last few weeks have been so much better thanks to you all and ironically I have been eating so well. I also never thought I would be looking forward to the Winter but thanks to Preparing for Winter I am thinking "Bring it On" :rotfl: This site is now the first one I go to each day and I avidly read every thing. Thank you again so much :T
