How do you spot the meat misprices?
Is it just spotting mismatch between SEL price/kg Vs printed packaging price/kg?
How do you know which price the item will scan at? is it always the price on the packaging?

p.s. pls forgive the one-off off-topic post

The price per kg appears on SELs/banners/end of aisle signage etc.
See if it matches that on the item in hand.
Check the price on a scanner if there's one working in the store.
Sometimes, the tills have been programmed to reduce a one-off price, so you will not be overcharged. The scanner will show you this.
Mostly, catchweight misprices occur when new or old stock bears a non-offer, thus higher, per kg price.
It's a good habit to jot the prices of items as you go round(bylromarha's long ago tip)then check your receipt before you leave the store.
You'll be surprised the number of times Bogof's, half-prices, 3 for 2 etc don't work!.

I am all for DTD if there is a genuine mistake. Some people on here seem to be actively trying to exploit this. Suppose I have just never been a fan of cheap and sneaky people. Dont like Tesco much btw, but dislike sneaky moneygrabbing tightwads more :rotfl:

No Jane, not some people on here. Everyone on here except you I think!
Its called Consumer Revenge and its what MSE is all about. Don't worry when I get DtD I always put some of it in the charity collection boxes on the CS desk.;)

    Back to the misprices....

Just got back from Mr T with a nice DTD - bought Katharine Jenkins - Sacred Arias and Snow Patrol - A Hundred Million Suns. Both had yellow SELs promoting the 2 for £15 offer but the discount didn't come off!

    Paid £9.71 x 2 = £19.42. Overcharged £4.42 = £8.84 DTD :D

Not sure if one or both of these are at fault, but hope it helps somebody find their Christmas pressies a bit cheaper ;)
  • I just got my first ever DTD!!!

32 litre clear storage boxes with lids, were advertised as 'was £4 now £2' on the shelf, went to till, scanned as £4 each. Went to CS and got £16 back as I bought 2!!! Result!!!

    wow what a bargain , u should of got £8 back , as it was a mis price of £2 DTD = £4 each = £8
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec
  • If I had only received £8 back wouldn't that have just been a total refund as I had bought them as 2 x £4?

I tried explaining the DTD but we both were confused in the end :rotfl:

With DTD you get double the amount you were overcharged by, in your case you wererovercharged by £4 so you should get £8 back in your case it does work out that you get it for free, but check your receipt if they havent written on it go back tomorrow see someone else on cs and claim DTD again, this is whats known as a golden ticket, but they have cocked up and given you DDTD

can someone help please. i thought i was going to get my first dtd today. bought winnie the pooh plush pens reduced 2 pounds down to 1. saw that according to sel the offer finished on 17/12. bought 4, charged 4x 2 pounds so went to cs. lady went off to get sel which clearly mstched the items description wise as said winnie the pooh plush pens reduced half price 2 to 1 pound. she only gave me 4 pound back. i tried to argue dtd but she said the barcode on the sel did not match the product and that the sel was for something else and was in the wrong place, despite the written description matching my item perfectly. should i have persued this further? if so do you think i could call cs instead? might they give me 400 cc points instead as they'll not have the receipt in front of them? i'm hoping so as trying to boost my balance. thanks in advance for advice.

Yes, you should pursue this - you have overpaid by £4. DTD is £8.
You should point to their own wording on the blue sign at customer service - it is the 3rd sentence from the bottom, starting with the words 'In the unlikely event that things don't add up.........'
You could Freephone 0800-505555 tmorrow, but better to go back to the store with your receipt which will show the part-refund, therefore proof of the overcharge.
You need not 'argue' with whoever it is - just quietly show the place, the item.
HO are unlikely to give you 400 points - you did not spend £400 and you already have the points for the overcharge.
I'd just keep it simple with HO - 'I received a refund yesterday but not for DOUBLE the difference.'
They can track your rec. no/txn.
