Would someone explain how DTD works on meat etc thats got the price per kg on it. Can get my head around the fact that the price per kg on the SEL may be different from that on the packaging but I can't work out how to calculate the DTD. Thanks0

Went to CS after I had been overcharged and was asked to wait for the manager. Was also told by CS that I wouldn't get anything as it was a mistake and mistakes don't count. When I laughed and said we'll see she told me to keep my voice down and not be so agressive. Cheeky cow.
The manager came and also said it was a mistake and I hadnt been overcharged but she would give me the books for £7. I said it should be DTD but again she said no so I said I would try Dundee, who she said would side with her.
How wrong she was. I've got a £20 gift card coming in the post and an unmarked receipt that will come in handy for a refund tomorrow. Also reported the CS and manager for their attitude. Told the HO lady that if I wanted to be humiliated in public I would walk around naked. When she stopped laughing she said that I complaint would be lodged and if I ever get a problem in that store not to go to cs but to ring HO.
Saw this quote in yesterday's Guardian in an article on Poundland:
Even Poundland's directors aren't immune from the bargain-spotting. Finance director Nick Hately picks up the new Top Gear annual for a quid. It is £4.99 on play.com, £3.49 on amazon and £6.99 at WH Smith's online store.

They have shelf edge labels for each item they sell including meat. The shelf edge labels on varied weight meat says £xx per kg. This should be the same price as on the meat packaging, if you are charged more than the shelf then you are entitled to DTD.
The pork I bought had a yellow shelf edge label saying it was reduced from £5.59 a kilo to £4.59, on the pork it had a label that had not been reduced so I was charged £5.59 a kilo. Therefore I was charged £1 more a kilo than the advertised price, the meat weighed 1.4kg so I should have got approx £1.50 doubled but got £4 because she wasn't sure how to calculate it.
Hope for more next week.:T0 -

Lovely, I shall look out for this too. Keep'em coming.:j0 -

With this kind of misprice CS staff are sometimes less than cooperative not necessarily because they are being bolshy but because they can't get their head around the misprice.
The important bit is the Price Promise on the blue board - words to the effect of 'if you are charged more than the price shown on the item or shelf'.
So it goes:
Packet of steak - on the item £6.99 per kg and say a pack price of £10. On the shelf - the SEL - this states 'steak £4.99 per kg'.
But the reality is that you have been charged at £6.99 a kg.
Where CS staff struggle sometimes is that they see the £10 price tag - note that this is what you were charged and struggle to focus on the price per kg bit - which is the misprice.
All you need to do is talk them through the labels - they then should be getting a calculator out and working out the cost based on £4.99 kg - and giving you DTD.
Even staff who understand the misprice sometimes struggle with this bit - this is why some Dudes report getting all sorts of strange DTD in terms of too much money being handed over by CS.
This kind of misprice is not one of my favourites.
Firstly staff who do not get it or resist DTD result in you raising your profile and you risk being tagged as 'abusing' the Price Promise - to be frank the last thing you want is to have a row with the CS staff and sometimes for the small monies involved is it really worth it?
Also this misprice really does not fit with the profile of a wronged shopper - generally most people (not all) do not memorise the price per kg on SELs...
Each to their own - hope this helps and good luck,

Thanks FloFlo and Hey Dude. Got my head around it now. Take your point about being careful about this one though. Maybe best used very selectively...0

I got some steak yday which had a SEL of £12.47 per kg but got charged £15.47. The CS assistant couldn't work it out so I explained it to her! It was £6.73 and should have got £2.56 back but she said I could have the steak for £3 as I had explined how to do it - bless her!
Also got some scampi last week, said it was half price but got charged full price...[STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]
CC2: £390 / £1475.98
Boiler: £1500 / £2500
[STRIKE]Overdraft: £1000 / £1000[/STRIKE]
Emergency Fund : £200 -
I'm not sure if this is the right place but I noticed this morning that the Tesco equivalent of Tropicana was £1.30 for one carton and on offer (as printed on the cartons) as £4 for 3.
Seeing as how £1.30 x 3 is £3.90, not much incentive to buy in bulk, is there?0 -
Today I got a kids dressing gown with 25% off nightwear (promo board) but I also got kids slippers and the 25% didnt come off.
Do you think slippers should come under nightwear (you dont wear a dressing gown in bed and it came off that?)
So this could be a DD if you think slippers should be in promo
Didnt notice til I got home so will ask at next visit.
Also another question:
If you get charged for something you didnt buy can you get DD on it?
I asked her to scan it to find out price then she didnt cancel it.
Phoned when I got home and got it confirmed as an error next time I go in, just wondering on what I should get back.

Today I got a box of http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/3/xpi50610423.htm and charged £3.83.
The yellow SEL said £1 off now £2.91?
I think it must have been an OOD label because they are £3.83 on website.
Didn't notice the overcharge but bought because the yellow flash price, while waiting on DH to come and collect me I noticed I'd been charged the £3.83. Went to CS and she gave me £2 back, because she 'couldn't work it out'!
Oh dear!
On another note I was in Woolworths the other day and a woman was getting very stroppy with staff because she couldn't work out 20% off of £15, unbelievable, obviously not a MSE'er!!!
