:ji believe it is double the difference, or it used to be when i worked there, many moons ago, HTH Dave
Edit: like in the op`s case, the bike she paid for should have been £40 as sel price said £80, and there was a half price promotion on(i am assuming the sel should have said £160), but they charged her £80, so they refund double the differenc, in this case the difference being £40 they got £80 back, in effect getting the bike for free, which reminds me, when i used to work there, i spent £96, gave the cashier £100, and she gave me back £96
The shelf edge label said £80, (this is the full price) so did the display at the front of the store. What they had not got around to doing was putting the [strike]£80[/strike] now £40 ticket on it. The other bikes had them.

There is no legal obligation on your part to provide that information. I usually provide a name and address as a flat refusal draws attention to you - the address I provide is never my one, mind you.
I've heard that on refunds they take the details to try and avoid fraud from staff making false returns.

I always buy the 500gm packs of cooking bacon from Tesco - used to be 75p, now £1.17 ish!
It's usually a mix of fat and thin, smoked and unsmoked cuts - fantastic in a sarnie, great for quiches and I make a pasta dish with bacon and it's fine.0
