my store has a price scanner, so i can just scan things and check them, is this the best way to do it?
Thanks
They update from a central server at some point throughout the night - around 3am to 4am, not on the stroke of midnight. Don't assume they will revert back to the higher price in all cases.
Stores can override prices locally - I've had a case of beer scan at £10 in one extra, seen it on a £5 SEL at another extra 3 miles away 10 minutes later and been charged £5 at the till for it.

Prices will update in the early hours the day after the offer finishes, so you can't go in at 00:01 and expect the price to have already changed. You might need to wait until 3am for example.
The store will know which items are changing in price and have SEL's to change, although sometimes they miss some.
Using a scanner in store is a good way, just don't spend ages going back and forward with different products to the scanner or you might get spotted.0 -
Hurrah! My first misprice.
I just picked up two childrens Colgate toothbrushes which were on offer at £2.99, end date today. My shopping came to more than I expected and when I checked I'd been charged £5.98 each so I went to customer services and she confirmed that it was wrong and refunded me £6. I asked if they did double the difference (thanks to looking at this thread for the first time yesterday) and she said one of them scanned as 'not on file' so she couldn't give me anything back for that one. I said I'd go and get another one which I did so she refunded me another £4.80 (on account of me having a 10% discount card).
So thanks to everyone here I got two stocking fillers for a total of £1.16. :TDebt Free: 01/01/2020

Spotted a misprice in my local Mr T's (Midsomer Norton, North East Somerset) - the Tesco 'Not From Concentrate' 1litre juice cartons all have 'Buy 3 for £4, Long Term Price Offer' around the top of the cartons, but they scanned through the till with an offer of Buy 2 for £2.50.
Makes the juice cartons £1.25 each instead of £1.33ish each!
Not much of a saving I know, but any savings a good saving! :j0 -
Free chicken today!! The frozen butter basted chicken breast with stuffing. (these are the ones that were previously reduced because they changed the pack size from 1kg to 800g). Anyway, these had a big yellow sign stating half price, now £3.50 until 4/11/08. Scanned at £4.37. No DTD for me .... refund of £4.37 and I got to keep the product :j0

So how come you got a refund & kept the product rather than a DTD - I thought DTD was the policy these days ?
Either way, well done !!

Just a word of warning. I noticed an OOD SEL for Chardenay Finest stating £3.99 half price from £7.99.There was also a SEL next to it for £7.99 so presumed it would scan at £7.99 therefore DTD. I purchased 24 bottles as no price check scanner and scanned at £3.99 so no DTD. 24 bottles of wine at a good price but no DTD so looks like family have wine for Xmas or trip back for refund from different store0
