I noticed today that most of the offer labels (eg. 50% off) have a line of text on the price shelf promotion label saying "offer valid until 09/09/08.. for exampe).) Is this a get out clause!? It seems most of these money backs are on promotions that have not has the price label removed.
  • Another storming DTD from the Tesco electronics dept......

"Sonic and the Secret Rings" for the Wii.
    Labelled £14, SEL £34.71, scans @ £34.71.
    A DTD of £41.42!

Nothing like being paid £6.71 to take something out of the shop :D
Should be easy enough to flog it on ebay .... (less awkward than returning it to CS to get it refunded for £14)

    [edit]
Checked 4 other nearby Tesco Extra stores, but none had the game labelled at £14 :(
    Hope you have better luck!
    [/edit]

The CS mentioned they'd had a lot of overcharges on DVDs & games today - presumably a load of mislabelled new stock has come in recently.
So, get moving people! bargains to be had in the DVD isle!

    p.s.

While there I also spotted this, but didn't buy it.

"Sega Superstars Tennis" for the PS2, mixture of labels some £10 others £17, SEL was £17.
So, in all likelyhood it'll scan @ £17, giving a DTD of £14. Not quite free, but £3 for a newish PS2 game is a bargain.
  • Another one I almost forgot about.... though it isn't actually a misprice, but I (unwittingly) managed to pull it off as such.

    Tesco Organic Peppers (3 packs)

I thought the offer was "Buy 2 get 3rd free".
So I picked up 3 packs (9 peppers..... rather alot, but i'm sure they'll get used)

When the offer didn't appear on the receipt, I went over to CS.
Showed him the 3 packs of peppers (all with the '3 for the price of 2' stickers on) along with the receipt, and he promptly gave me DTD.

It wasn't until I unpacked the shopping @ home that I took a closer look at the packaging...... it turns out they are "Tesco Organic Peppers (2 pack)".
The offer is that you get 3 peppers per pack instead of 2.
Oh well an honest mistake! and 9 peppers for £1.58 i'm not about to complain :T

The funny thing is, I saw atleast 1 other person who had 3 of these packs in their basket - I wonder if they noticed the non-existant misprice :p
  • i was looking at this thread earlier while at work, and didn't know much about the DTD policy of tesco's but now i do and i'm loving it.
i live over the road from a 24hr tesco so will be looking out for DTD opportunities everytime i visit.

i went over this evening to see if they had wrong price on the champagne mentioned and the sonic wii game but no luck :(

    i have a question:

while browsing i noticed a lot of the special offer tags that said expires 2/9 which is today, so am i right in thinking that if i go over there tomo and find that some of the products still have these shelf labels but scan for a new higher(not offer price) then i will be able to DTD??
is this a trick what other people do look at the expiry of the tickets and see if still on self day after expiry??

hope i can get my first DTD soon
    thanks

    It's one method, yeah.
Though be warned, an expired SEL does not guarantee that the item will scan at a higher price.
If possible use a customer barcode scanner to check the price, or be prepared to return the item to CS (with an appropriate excuse!).

Or if you get to the till and something scans above what you expected you might forget your Credit/Debit card or your cash ;)
Better than pestering CS unnecessarily - save that pleasure for a DTD!

If you have your other half with you (or kids) you could send them up to an empty checkout (not customer services) asking for a "price check". If it is a go-er, go through a checkout at the other end or make sure you send OH or kids back to the car before you go through the checkout.

There has also been reports on this forum of very rare occasions where the price at a self scan (not scanning point within the store) differs from that at manned checkouts, so that may be an option to go to selfscan and if the price is not going to give a DTD, cancel the item - tell the self-scan supervisor you have forgotten some items, then go through a manned checkout.

    HTH:confused:
I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.

Tesco own ice lollies, the cola, cherry and lemonade ones had SEL of 99p but scanned at £1.09. Not much I know but still an overcharge.
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!
