The pack I got is red and 35ml each of developer and colour cream. I've just applied it this evening and pleased to say all went well! The screw cap on the developer was badly made and would not come off, so I just cut the top off and mixed the two in a small bowl, other than that, application was fine, the formula was thick enough so as not to drip all over the place. Plenty for my hair which is shoulder length
very happy for £1 rather than my usual £5-ish for hairdye.

I think they just had one in the 99p shop which I bought, gloss white which was perfect for my radiators, and one small tin went a surprisingly long way, touched up 4 radiators with two coats and still have a little under half a tin left! Poundland only had gloss white too as far as I can remember.
The other place I looked which was still a lot cheaper than the DIY shops was Wilko, theirs was £3.95 a tub for a slightly larger tin, and they had three or four different options and I think one was a creamy white, so you might be able to try there if the shade in 99p/poundland isn't quite right for you.0 -
:shocked:Very interesting article in Daily Mail Saturday 25th August
"Proof Poundland's NOT Such A Bargain".
Basically 13 different favourite foods were tracked and prices shown that they were cheaper in supermarket.
The article quoted a report claiming that Poundland charged up to 50 per cent more than other stores and that while its goods may have the lowest price, they are often traded in smaller volumes.
Heinz Beanz - Poundland: Heinz Beanz, 3 x 150g. £1
Price Per 100g. 22.2p
Tesco: Heinz Beanz, 3 x 200g. £1.25
Price per 100g. 20.8p
Price Saving per 100g. 1.4p
Percentage Saving per 100g. 6.3 per cent.
Pepsi Diet Cola
Poundland: Pepsi Diet Cola. 1.5 litres, £1
Price per Litre; 67p
Asda: Pepsi Diet Cola, two litres, 98p
Price per Litre: 49p
Price Saving per Litre: 18p
Percentage Saving per Litre: 26.8 per cent
Same product, smaller size and more expensive per bottle. You'll get more for even less at Asda.
Kellogg's Corn Flakes
Poundland: Kellogg's Corn Flakes, 250g. £1
Price per 100g: 40p
Tesco: Kellogg's Corn Flakes, 750g. £1.98
Price per 100g; 26.4p
Price Saving per 100g: 13.6p
Percentage Saving per 100g: 34 per cent
It's generally true with supermarkets that the bigger the packet, the more you save. As Poundland doesn't sell huge cereal packets, it's not the place to buy your corn flakes.
Bernard Matthews Wafer Thin Turkey Ham
Poundland: Bernard Matthews Wafer Thin Turkey Ham, 200g. £1
Price per 100g: 50p
Asda; Bernard Matthews Wafer Thin Turkey Ham, 400g, £1.48
Price per 100g; 37p
Price Saving per 100g: 13p
Percentage Saving per 100g: 26 per cent
Poundland's packaging claims there's 42 per cent extra free. But buy the Asda pack that's double the size for just 50p more and you'll find it a much better bargain.
Ambrosia Devon Custard
Poundland: Ambrosia Devon Custard, 3 x 400g, £2
Price per 100g: 16.7p
Morrisons: Ambrosia Devon custard, 400g, 50p
Price per 100g; 12.5p
Price Saving per 100g: 4.2p
Percentage Saving per 100g; 25.1 per cent
Ambrosia Devon Custard is one of the few things in Poundland for more than its famour £1. But while you seem to get a lot - three tins - for £2. if you buy just one at Morrisons, you'll make a massive saving. It's the same for Ambrosia Rice Pudding - three 400g cans from Poundland for £2 while just one is 50p in Morrisons.
This being said, I love 99p and Poundland stores and have bought some great bargains over the years.
Perhaps it's just with food that we need to be aware
Thanks, that's helpful to know- it was something I was more or less aware of- I have to watch the pennies because they often run out and leave me going without things. It's not just food- other products are similar, things like brown sticky parcel tape, if you are willing to pay the £5 or so art shops and Rymans charge the tape will last you for a long while, but the £1 offering from the pound shop/99p stores/wherever wont last very long at all and much of the time wont stay stuck down.
I think some things work out well if you are say a one person household and know that the 750g box of Kelloggs will end up soggy and thrown away before your halfway through so the pound shop/etc is a better plan. But if you aren't careful and don't keep your wits about you and really question everything you purchase (does it really taste the same/last as long/is such great quality?) then you can very easily get shafted.
I think some products are ex-supermarket stock or overstock from elsewhere. But many other products I think are made directly to be sold in pound type shops to fill the shelves for when the overstock or discontinued products run out.
I remember someone telling me that many of these made-for-poundland and the like lines were marked on the product in miniscule writing somewhere but as it's not easy to find this the best advice is to keep questioning everything you choose. But you should be doing this everywhere- from supermarkets to street markets if money is really that tight.0 -
Can I just warn people off Poundland sticky tape. I'm sure it used to be good but I bout some last week the kind that comes with the dispenser, taped a label onto a cardboard box went away for 10mins came back & the tape had lifted off the box leaving the label flapping about:eek: not good when you're returning a laptop.Booo!!!0

I second the granola, it's at least £2 in the main supermarkets and is really good, I like the maple one too0 -

Good to hear it went well! It disappeared from the shelves for a while, I know, and it looks as that was due to repackaging - Mellor and Russell have cut the quantities down from 40ml to 35ml of each to keep the price at £1.
I think anyone with long-ish hair would probably buy two packs regardless of this anyway. I don't think I could halve this amount as I do with Aldi's 50 ml, there probably wouldn't be enough, but a £1 dye job that looks good is still pretty impressive.
I got my bowl, comb and brushes for applying the dye from Poundworld btw.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Poundland: Ambrosia Devon Custard, 3 x 400g, £2
It means that it is on sale for £2 and not the usual £1.
