I needed to phone a landline in Australia from a mobile here in the UK. On my tariff it would have cost 90p a minute.
Poundland sell a Lebara sim card which drops the cost to 2p a minute and came pre-loaded with £2 of credit. You just swap your sim for the Lebara one and off you go, no need to register or anything.
Make sure you buy the thin packet with "International calls for 1p a min" printed on the front. There is an expiry date on the back but it is covered with a sticker, you can make the date out through the sticker.
The sim can be used to call ans text in this Country but strangely it costs 5p to a landline and 10p to a mobile, 12p for a text.
The free credit expires after 30 days after you put the sim in, so wait a bit if you want to call those friends abroad at Christmas.0 -

Today I got Pooh's Yummy Cookbook, lovely book for a little one with simple recipes and room to write things like who liked the food they made. These are £3 at Bookpeople, and will make a lovely stocking filler. Also bought some nice Peter Rabbit board books, Osiris BB cream (Lidl's one that got good reviews back in the summer), a massive bottle of Herbal Essences Conditioner, a nice bread and baking book (quite thin but nice recipes and worth a pound), some pretty decorated cupcake cases. Also had the Revlon chroma nail varnish but I didnt buy that, lots of other Revlon and Rimmel make up. 3 cheers for Poundland :T0

Yesterday I found a cute 2014 family planner / calendar with a notepad attached and pencil in a little clip. Was cartoon owl design. Also got a nice design page per day calendar. I've paid about £5 for similar in previous years.
They had some nice Disney kids books, I got Tangled and the Lion King. And some Disney princess hair clips with the coloured hair strands on for DD.
Lastly a set of tie wraps in different sizes, I've used some to fasten the cover onto the BBQ, hopefully that will hold in the wind...Bossymoo
