  • I tried the cake tins out in the oven. I also drew round them on a piece of paper before I started, so I could compare the shape of them before and after cooking. Here's some pictures:

I put a paper clip on one tin so I knew which was which:

    This was before baking:

    This was after baking:

and this was the cake because it would be rude not to:

I can't say I noticed any warping. I didn't have any problems with leaking either. I did grease the tins but didn't line them with anything. It was very easy to get the cakes out :)

Over all I am very happy :)
So so SO tired of being ripped off, and mislead
    Hope sharing saves some pain.

Don't think this has been posted: Dundee Poundland had packs of kira osteo balance 50+ same as http://www.boots.com/en/Kira-Osteo-Balance-50-30-one-a-day-tablets_1265915/

I'm not 50 yet, but my body seems to be heading that way fast, so hopefully these'll help! They also contain Vitamin D3 - highly recommended for those of us in the 'sun-challenged' North... :)
  • I used the mini cake tins from poundland to make mini xmas cakes to go into hampers. Double lined the tins and two hours in the oven - the tins survived.

The cake is snugly wrapped up maturing for xmas.(That's if I don't eat it first)

crumblepie, did you use a standard cake recipe? I've always wanted to try mini ones.

    Thanks

Oooh I'd like the recipe for this as well. I bought two of these tins from a cheapo store months ago (for a pound as well) and put them away with the intention of making mini christmas cakes.
:hello:  please play nicely children !

Make sure you do! I'll be buying some anyway (don't usually buy poor quality bakeware) but have no intention of using it in the oven. Interestingly I've found Lidl does great quality bakeware for fancy cakes.

I have been using a couple of these little spring form tins for a while now & they seem as good as the more expensive tins I own. I have not noticed any distortion

I also used them to bake mini Christmas cakes I use my standard recipe for a large cake & got 4 from it

I used a normal 7 inch cake recipe. It is a normal big size cake mix and I used a bag of mixed fruit instead of buying individual dried fruits, and it made 3 small cakes.
