Instead I went to Poundland and saw it there on a 3 for 2 mix & match deal, the other items were silicone brushes (like pastry brushes but much easier to clean) and a slotted spoon / spatula combo - beware, although they are colour matched to the silicone items these are in fact a cheap and nasty plastic.
In the end I bought 3 spatula and brush sets in different colours, one for my parents and each of my siblings. 6 items for £4.
I love silicone spatulas too. Although I always leave a bit of cake mix for the little 'un to lick. They are also great for wiping out whats left in a jar, especially peanut butter and wiping greasy plates and oven dishes. Then I wipe the spatula on a used teabag and stick it in the composter.Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

I felt the "Secrets Of Poundland" programme was like a short news segment stretched to fill a bigger slot in the schedule, ie. much too long!
Most of us, surely, know that not EVERYTHING in Poundland is a bargain, particularly cleaning products.
What I did learn, though, is that Stila are NOT happy they're selling their products (apparently those on offer are around 8 years old?! (!)), and have no idea where they sourced the items from.
The focus was on how they misleadingly label a lot of their products as x% Extra Free, where in a lot of cases, similar or better alternatives are in the supermarkets.
Also, Poundland do some "phantom brands", particularly toys and confectionery, which are manufactured by themselves.
The programme may have had a negative slant, but I STILL LOVE POUNDLAND!!0 -
Just watching the Poundland documentary and how they are cheeky with pack sizes and things. They have a letter from Stila saying they don't know how Poundland got hold of their products as they are 8 years old and haven't been manufactured since in that packaging!!! I stopped using the Stila tinted moisturiser as I got contact dermatitis and couldn't be sure where it was from but haven't suffered since I went back to my old brand.
KitKats - 9 pack is 6 and 50% extra free and 8 pack is 5 and 60% extra free. All a bit naughty.0 -

These fabulous things also work as brilliant mixing spoons and were a revelation to me back in NZ recently. Told my cousin I'd be the culprit if hers was missing after I left, but tracked some down over in Hastings - none in Napier - and they're in one of 5 boxes of bits being shipped back to me as we speak.
I echo EVERY effusive glowing adjective applied to these and can't wait for them to arrive.

THIS!!! Nothing much I can add, as apart from the Stila bit I learnt nothing. Of course Asda, Tesco etc will have things cheaper from time to time. That applies to any shops including B&Ms etc, but I still love Poundland, and the simplicity that you know exactly how much dosh to get out at the till.Aims for 2014

Just a tip the 200ml bottles of Vaseline can be used to fill up the 75ml hand cream sized bottles, it's quite easy when you get the hang of it.
Poundland now sell free range eggs, I had long wished I could get 6 FR rather than 9 crappy eggs.0 -
Re the poundland documentary last night, I did think it was interesting to see how grocery and cleaning stuff is marketed to appeal to customers and make them think they are getting a brgain but to be honest, I always check out the pack sizes in any case and weigh them up against what is in the supermarkets! I haven't found much in the grocery section that I can't get for the same price or better at Asda or Tedco so this programme didn't really come as a great shock to me. I thought that they could have focused on some of the other bargains though to have a balanced view of the place - the Sally Hansen nail and lip make up is a good buy as well as alot of the books, cd's and dvds on offer. In short, I still love poundland!0
