Sometimes when out of powder I've used a couple of tablespoons of stardrops in the washing machine. This quantity didn't over-foam and everything came out clean.0

I use soapflakes in my washing machine occasionally - we live in a hard water area, however, so there is not much foam. (I used to buy them but now just grate a bar of soap with the cheesegrater)0

I have a couple of bars of this from when I worked for Lever Bros in Port Sunlight - never seen it since! Does anywhere sell this? I've been guarding my few bars viciously!
