Look for a cheap All-in-One remote I think Dazi:eek: .
My new washer/dryer is coming tomorrow. Ordered on line after checking it out locally, saved over £100 over best price locally. Being delivered direct from Hotpoint, who have texted me to confirm that this morning, with a pm delivery:j :j . I have put my 1200 spin washer and seperate condenser drying in our local paper shop on Saturday, the washer is fine but the dryer needs a small repair around £30, (local shop estimate) for £55 o.n.o. for them both, but no response so far. Do you think that is too dear? If they don't go them we then I will have to Freecycle them.
DH back from run one to the tip now, and I've made him a coffee, better get off here I think. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
My mattresses were due to be delivered this afternoon - one bed, three mattresses. A path needed to be cleared in all rooms, and I was expecting them around 2pm. Little bear had gone to sleep and I was taking five minutes...
They called in early, bless them they took a double mattress up two narrow and steep flights of stairs and forgot one of the mattresses so will be calling back. Little bear was distraught at the disruption to his routine so I have just given him a huge cuddle and now he is going back to sleep, leaving me with the problem of where do I start? I feel like that everything needs doing at once. Except nothing that is going to disturb my little one, for at least half an hour.
Until he is more awake, I think I shall start in the kitchen and work my way out. There should be a skip delivered later in the week which we are sharing with our neighbours who have to get rid of two camper vans, a caravan and two or three cars and are also having a bit of a clear out. It is only a small residential street, so it has got a bit congested.
However, while I am fussing about housework and cleaning and mattresses, it is so unimportant with what others are dealing with here. I do hope all is sorted out soon for you - Catowen I do hope your daughter finds a way to cope with all this. Dazi, do you have a really sunny spot where you can leave the remote to dry out naturally. I have spilled so much over our remotes, I do think that they are quite robust. Perhaps you should try drying it out after removing the batteries and using new batteries next time - fingers crossed!Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

Good morning everyone! Think I have read all the thread... I am still getting to know people so just wanted to give a big hug to everyone who needs one. Sometimes you just have to hope and pray that these things are happening for a reason even though that is so hard at times.
I haven't been allowed to see my nephews in months and it hurts like hell. They used to stay here 3 weekends out of four but now they go to their Granmas and because we have fallen out, I am not allowed to see them. (My sister pretty much goes along with whatever my mother says). I have tried to make peace 100 times but my mother is intransigent. Anyway, I digress, but I just wanted everyone to know that I am not trying to be glib when I comment on how painful family can be and how you have to hope there is a bigger plan for us all that will make it work out as it was supposed to be.
So onto my Monday - yet again my big ginger cat is curled up on the desk with me and the weather has been bright and sunny so far though there are ominous clouds looming (*smiles* - sounds like life...). Am really hoping to get out into the garden later when my OH comes back from work.
Planning a frugal dinner tonight store cupboard and freezer things - probably some odd combination but I will have fun finding things!!
Baked bread last night for the first time and God knows how I managed it but it stuck to the tin...*laughs*. Still I can cook and bake up a storm (she says modestly) so I guess I will get the hang of bread one day soon!!! (with any luck)
I hope everyone has a great day.

p.s. it just started raining, so I guess I will be spending time online today and not in the garden...See you on the boards!!!:rotfl:To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. sybil - have you had a look at the flylady thread? might give you a clue where to start!;)
Thank you - I may pop over and look but - honestly - I think I need a flamethrower more than flylady
I've got mattresses and bed bits everywhere, a sleeping little bear that I have just spent ages calming down because his nap was disturbed
and a kitchen that looks like male students use it.
I think I will start in the kitchen as that will not disturb my little bear, and just keep going. My darling has requested shepherd's pie for tea tonight, and I have some cold lamb to use up, but I don't have much potato. Do you think it will be okay if I bulk it out with instant potato?Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -

In a world that has decided that it's going to lose its mind, be more kind my friend, try to Be More Kind0 -
Dazi - I know you can dry out remotes (and mobile phones) by sticking them in a box filled with dry rice (long grain or pudding, it doesn't matter!) and the rice will absorb the moisture over a couple of days. Make sure the rice covers the remote.
Squiggly - you're so right; they should not have to deal with something like that at such a young age. I found it made them all grow up overnight and they were all desperately trying to comfort each other, the boys as well as the girls. They sort of felt more sorry for each other than themselves and the way they were with the parents blew my mind away, so tender and concerned and determined to tell them how loved their children were. As I say, it has happened four times to my son and each time I have been astounded by how it has affected him and the whole group of friends. Arranging collections for the benches and plaques gave them something to focus on when the pain was so raw and they felt they were doing something positive. The anniversaries are cheerful events because that's how they want them to be; they sort of feel that their friends are with them. I have to drive past the recreation ground quite often and I can see the benches from the road; it always brings a tear to my eyes for the losses and the effect they have had on their friends.
I send masses of (((hugs))) to your DD, Zacs parents and all who have been affected by this tragedy.
Moneysavingdiva - (((hugs))) to you; I do hope you can sort things out so that you can see your nephews. It's as important for them as it is for you.
Well, I'd better go and find something for lunch - toast, I think, because it's easy!
See you later.
