  • Morning all,

Kathy – thank you, that’s exactly it, I do want to be able to stop the hurt for her & know I can’t. It would have been his 17th on Wednesday, & they would have all come round here anyway (I have a very large garden that they all like to sit & chill in). So they are getting some fireworks apparently & are going to get together & think of Zac. It just doesn’t seem right them having to deal with the death of a friend at their age, although I know that’s life. As it were. Catznine, they’re pretty close knit anyway, and I think this will make it even more so. They’re such a nice bunch of kids and I’m so glad they are looking after each other.

    Frugalswan, LURVE toad-in-the-hole, scrummy J
EssexGirl, my aunt used to have a canal boat, it’s such a lovely way to spend time, the pace of life suddenly slows to nothing..!
Catowen, ((((hugs))) – feels like 2 steps forward & 3 back I know, but eventually your DD will appreciate & understand. Just remember it is exOH’s loss in the long run if that’s how he chooses to behave.
Hester, ((((hugs)))) to your niece/nephew too on losing their friend L As DiffCorner says, it just doesn’t make sense sometimes.
Beth, have a good time in Portsmouth, a break is just what you need at the moment. Maybe Barclaycard were bracing themselves already…. that’s a pain in the behind though L
Redruby, lol at your OH!!! But it’s great that he’s off out & about already J
Hope your dad gets on ok today at hospital too.
Stef, glad you are getting regular updates on DD, shame about the technicolour explosion…!!! Hope you make & enjoy lunch. Tell the judge to get a move on cos your busy!!!! ;)
Taplady, hope DS1 has a good first day at work & that you feel better later too. Sorry to hear about your lady too, hope she didn’t suffer too much over those couple of weeks.
Celyn, all you can do is focus on the fact that (hopefully) it will all be sorted soon….
Janny, catnap time later then?? When it’s just me for dinner I either enjoy just being able to have a microwave meal (no faffing, no washing up) or I do the opposite & do myself something really scrummy (like fillet steak!)

Welcome to the newbies too, you will love it here – such a kind, friendly, thoughtful, generous bunch of people. And a few lunatics ;)
(((((((((((((((((((((((huge hugs))))))))))))))))))))))) to all those needing them – and those not needing but wanting J

Got 2 boxes of croissants reduced to 30p each in Mr T’s yesterday, am going to put them to warm in the oven now & have with raspberry jam for brekkie. That will feed the (however many) kids who are here.

    Hi all,

Oh dear,I'm so sorry a lot of people are having such a hard time at the moment,my thoughts are with you all.

Squiggly my son lost one of his best friends to meningitis when they were 15, and its so hard.I know it happens, but its heartbreaking to see the young people at the funeral, seems so wrong. They do get a lot of support from being with each other, and the school was great too. (((Hugs to all)))

Didn't go to Mamma Mia on Sat,after we'd been to Costco and I'd divided all the meat and stuff up for the freezer I couldn't be bothered,so DH and I watched Foyles war after we had a curry.
Lazy day yesterday. When DH walked up for the paper and was on his way back in,I was just going out with the dog.He told me not to bother yet,as there were some people out on the front field sat there with cans of lager,in a bit of a drunken state-being abusive etc.,and they had a kiddie with them.It was quarter past ten in the morning!!

Got visitors tonight,so must go and tidy up,don't feel like it, slept v.poorly last night.Still don't have to do much about tea-leftover beef from yesterday.Tried an experiment-didn't put nearly as much meat on DH and DS plates as usual, but there were no comments,so it'll prob stretch to another meal now.:D

    welcome to wannabe sybil!:hello:

I have rung work and booked tomorrow off, I work in a small residential home for adults with visual impairments and learning disabilities so really dont want to spread it about. I was also due to do some cleaning for a 90 something year old lady today but have cancelled till later in the week as she's recovering from a knee replacement and I'd hate to give it to her.

Just had words with DS2:mad: , he's waiting for GCSE results and ATM is treating this house like a hotel and his own personal bank!  he's borrowed money off his friend and gone to Worcester on the bus. We had a long chat about borrowing money the other day but it obviously went in one ear and out the other:rolleyes: when I came in from the garden he'd gone. More words later I think!

edit to my post - DS has come back and not gone out. He is now on the phone trying to get some work.:T

    Morning All

A bit late for me. I woke up around 4, ended up on here until 6.30 and then went back to bed and was awoken around 9:eek: . DH had breakfasted and was keen to start the final stages of the demolition:rolleyes: . I will try to put some before we started and "building site" photos on Photobucket later.

I was excluded from the final stages as it has been getting the plaster coving down and bits of skirting board off, and the fancy plaster ceiling roses are next. He has nipped off to the tip with what he has taken down so far. Don't panic it is not an old house, and these were what we had put up a few years ago, but the inclusion of an ensuite with mean they are all in the wrong places, and this is the fourth (and last) renovation of this room so there is the original plaster painted gold (hidden behind built in units) cream polytex, behind the extra built in units, and finally the re-plastered bits which were then papered. A bit like a layered cake. Going back to plain plastered emulsion. All part of "old age proofing the place". Will also take the paper off two halls which will be laminated while doing this, and then there is only the lounge to take back to "plain emulsion" which we left as it would only have gotten dirty while doing all the others.

Did a piece of beef in the SC yesterday, maybe didn't do it long enough as was not as tender as normal, so sliced it and put it back in the gravy and continued cooking it, so hopefully a couple more meals out of it and it will be more tender. Did double portions of veg so maybe not too much cooking to do for the second Roast Dinner. We love roast dinners.

On the domesticated male front, must catch of photo of my "hunk" helping with the chores in just his shorts, and maybe I will share it with you. The photo only!

Hester did you see the WI program on Channel 4 last night?

SD - hugs to your DD and her friends, glad you can accommodate them, as that is what they need. They can't go far wrong when they have somewhere to go to. Maybe set them on gardening to make it nice for Wednesday - it will keep them occupied.

((((hugs)))) to loads of your atm, can't comment on problems with ex's and partners ex's never been there thank goodness. Some people don't want their OH's but cannot let them go to anyone else, baffles me, and as for mercenary greed, well words fail me, No-one would tell me how to spend my money that is for sure (Stroppy So-and-so of the year award winner here). Pen-Pin look after you, and pick up the pieces if you have to later. Give Mum the problem and concentrate on feeling better.((((hugs)))

 to everyone else, and welcome any newbies, almost newbies, and returning newbies.

    Take care - DG

    Morning everyone

Thank you for letting me rant and for your hugs and kind words.

I'm ok now, didn't sleep much last night though, OH is still a bit upset but I think DSD will be here as usual next weekend. I think I am lucky with my exH after he left he was always ok and fair and in turn I hope I am a good ex wife :D. OH's exW is on her third relationship since they split and this one is very rocky, I think this has a lot to do with the hissy fits we get every now and then

I have changed our bedding today and its in the machine, I think I may have picked something else up with it as there is a definate clonking sound  I checked to make sure it wasn't OH's watch as that is usually on the bedside cabinet but have found that, can't think what else it is and have made myself dizzy trying to look. Think I had better stop it so I can get whatever it is out :rotfl:

Thanks again you lot you are all :A, will come back later and read through the posts again as not a lot sunk in the first time.

    Good morning!

Gloomy weather here again, animals are all looking slightly fed up and assorted kids have taken refuge in the sitting room! Was planning on doing some washing today, but will prob just be shirts and underwear, can hang shirts straight onto hangers to dry off before ironing and undies can all go on big airer in the dining room - just what we all want to look at when we eat!

Busy weekend, lots of children stayed over on Friday night and we did a huge mexican meal. Saturday was dd2's birthday so I took her shopping and we did a big birthday lunch full of goodies. Went out for a friend's birthday on Saturday night, all had a good time, pretty sure my friend danced and she almost never does that, though perhaps she was just swaying from the effects of alcohol! Was up early on Sunday to blitz another friend's house, the tenant had left quite a mess, and contracts were exchanged on Friday, with completion due this week, so didn't want to hand it over in a state.

Took the kids up to Bristol to the EDF festival around the harbour and squares, it was really good fun, lots of free stuff for the kids to do, but absolutely silly prices for the food, luckily I'd fed everyone before we went and we weren't staying very late cos dd1 needed dropping at her friend's birthday party - bad mum alert though, they're going shopping today and I forgot to hand over her pocket money, oops!

Something from the cupboard for lunch, and will be popping stuff in the SC for dinner. Will have to have a quick tidy round this evening before w**k, house is too full at the moment!

Hope everyone has a good day, going to attempt to catch up now, hugs in advance to everyone who needs or wants one. xx
