            Thanks but what is "WSC"?
So far in this thread we've had WAC, WCA, WLR and now WSC
Still not sure what "WSC" is - I don't think anyone has replied with that answer yet.
However, I have found yet another acronym: "WBC" which stands for "Wholesale Broadband Connect", also provided by BT Wholesale as part of their "21CN" (21st Century Network) nationwide upgrade plan.
You can see a list of all the exchanges currently enabled for WBC here:
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/btwbc-league.php
To check a specific exchange, you can use the following page:

Does anyone know if all these Wholesale products are linked together? i.e. when WBC is enabled at your exchange, does that indicate that all the other BT Wholesale products are enabled at the same time?0 -

No, they're not linked. WBC will (eventually) replace IPStream and Datastream, the two BT wholesale DSL access products. It provides ADSL2+, which gives higher potential bandwidth. Current footprint is approx 40% population.
As BT roll out 21CN, WLR (and I assume wholesale calls) will be migrated onto it, meaning a product that's served by IP technology, but transparently to us as customers. However the migration of voice onto 21CN isn't linked to the broadband migration...so far only parts of Cardiff have been migrated. See here.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -
No answer from me yet; managed to mix up when the billing date was and made the calls one day too late.
They're currently viewable online as Chargecard UK, but I'll have to wait till March now to see if they're counted as eligible chargeable calls.
March has now rolled round, so I can now report that this worked. Call charges of 62p, less 7p F&F, and crucially no charges for 1571 or caller display.
To make the calls I popped round the corner to my grans and made 6 calls back to home using the chargecard. It's possible it might work from home dialling out, but I didn't want to take the chance.
Jumped ship and moved LR to Sky now anyway, but hopefully this is of use to someone.0 -
So is CPS with the option of 1280 dead now? Ie a new primus talk customer will be put on the thing with no overide option?0

Not as far as I am aware. Primus emailed me that they remained a CPS provider and had no plans to change to WCLI.MiserlyMartin wrote: »So is CPS with the option of 1280 dead now? 1280 is blocked on my Dad's line linked to talktalk. I've noticed though that 1471,3 works though. So I've told him to make 2 calls back to me on that (after I have called him) a month so he gets caller display free of charge!

I just checked my latest primus bill online and there is no 0845/0870 on there for last 2 months, I cannot remember when I exactly last rang 0845 but I have defenitly done in during that time so it seems 1280 is working. (my device auto adds 1280 to 0845/0870 numbers).0

BT Chargecard arrived today, are there any extra charges associated with use of the card (can't find details on BT website)?
Plan to use it for the 0844 international override numbers for calling abroad. Just a couple a month as this should satisy free caller display criteria.0 -

I think you'll find 0844 calls will probably be a lot more expensive than you think (see HERE).BT Chargecard arrived today, are there any extra charges associated with use of the card (can't find details on BT website)?

If I'm reading that right, calls to g9 rate 0844 numbers (just under 2p/minute from your residential line) will cost 19.75p/minute!
Even 01/02 calls will cost 11.75p/minute.
Update 17/8/09. BT company representative has now done an about-turn on this and confirmed that chargecard calls do NOT count as chargeable calls. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...3&postcount=11Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Just as well the calls didn't connect properly anyway!! I've made two calls now so should be ok for caller display this month
