If by "Boom Box" you mean something like the Ministry of Sound MOSRC023 - Portable Boombox - With CD & DAB Radio, £60, it does not have an alarm and I very much doubt that you will get an alarm on a portable.

The Ministry of Sound MOSRC023 is £49.99 in Coop in Honiton.

Tesco have some bargains at the moment. The Pure One is £39.99 in their electrical clearance and is a very nice radio (in pink or white). I missed out on the Pure Oasis (with chargepak and good for kitchens and bathrooms) sadly which was £89 but can be found for just over £93 if you froogle for it.
For those who wanted a DAB that can connect to ipod or similar, I believe the Pure Oasis can.
  • Picked up a cheap and cheerful Grundig Opus this week on my local market stall, £14-99. Specs are here http://www.dab-digital-radio.com/grundig_opus.htm mains only but just the job for the shed where I am currently spending a peaceful Saturday afternoon listening to the footy.
He had quite a few different types, the most expensive one being £22 which he explained had some facility to record the remainder of a programme if you pressed the right buttons, isn't technology wonderful ?
Sorry I can't give a precise retail outlet but just advanced notice that they could be coming to a market stall near you (if they haven't already).

Not a DAB radio as such, but the Matsui DA-1 DAB audio adapter was £20 in Curry's Speke on Friday. Might be worth seeking out for a very cheap way to add DAB to your HiFi.....

I bought one ;) It's pretty good. It works exactly like the vast majority of the DAB radios out there really. I'm sure most have the same innards, or chip, or somthing. Only a crappy wire antenna (so good signal required), L & R phonos out and a (reasonably decent) remote to control it with. Not bad for £20, wouldn't pay the £50-60 they usually charge for it though. I think that'll do me for dab radios now, I've got 7 ;)
  • Hi

I'm looking for a DAB radio because my old portable has finally died. Until the internet radios come down to a reasonable price, I was looking for a cheap-ish model that can run off batteries.

I was looking at the itech at Amazon and the Clarus at Maplin, both of which can take SD cards and have dual power supplies and are currently under £40. I can't find a single review of the MagicBox Clarus, so has anyone here bought one and are they any good for that price?

    Thanks!
