Mobility Car Rules - is this genuine?

Perhaps they have bought their car through the Mobility scheme, if they have I can't see that anyone can tell them when the car can be used? I know someone who does this and I might add it not a cheap option and she uses the car without her OH being in the car, its not like a blue badge.

Is wrong. The car can be used for anyone. The only thing that can't is the tax disc.
I have added another post making it clearer that is down to the tax disk that they can be done on.
I don't know why don't just do away with mobility as it seems a strange scheme open to abuse. As someone could force you in to giving up your DLA not get a exempt tax disk and drive around in your car all day while you pay for it and never take you out in it.

Hi,
Since about 2 years ago, cars on the Motabilty leasing scheme can only be taxed as 'Disabled'. There is no option to tax a motability lease car 'normally'.
Therefore as it has to be taxed disabled, use by another ((not the claimant) for their needs is not permitted. It can only be used for the needs of the claimant.
Someone in my locality was recently fined at court when the DVLA found they were not using the car for the disabled persons needs but using it for their own purposes.

Well, if you wish to complain about it, tell both the DVLA and also the Complaints and Professional Standards Department of the Police Force where the Police Officer works. They earn enough to be able buy a tax disc.

Please don't shout at me cos I'm only wondering, the car is to be used for the DLA recipient's benefit, therefore couldn't the husband, by going to work and providing for them, be seen as using it to benefit them?0

My thoughts exactly.
If i had a car in my disabled childs name, I could use it for for anything that was for the childs benefit. So me going to work, to earn money benefits him, shopping for food benefits him etc etc.
But, obviously, I wouldn't use the blue badge without the child in the car.
I think its a bit of a minefield.0 -

I agree, though it has been pretty bad for months now. Some twisted people seem to enjoy having a go or giving unwanted advice.0
