  • Hi

Had my shopping delivered last night and seem to have managed to buy nearly 500g of root ginger, only wanted a small piece to add to a stir fry!

Does anyone have any ideas what I can do with the rest?

Hi - I always order a larger piece and then just bung it in the freezer. I then just grate it from frozen in to curry, stir fry etc. HTH!

I peel and chop into usable pieces and freeze; you can then remove a piece as you need it and grate it from froze

I have just recieved my online shop from Asda and have been given 1kg of ginger, one of us has made a mistake. Does anyone have any recipe ideas as I dont want it to go to waste and its not something I usually buy due to price.

i stick mine in the freezer and take shaving off the frozen ginger when i need it.

i sometimes steep some to make ginger tea (sweeten with a bit of honey). Otherwise for cooking, use it in curries, stir fries or to zest up some beef stew.

I'd definitely freeze it and grate it from frozen. It's what I do although I've only got a little piece. You won't need to buy ginger ever again :D
