Excellent! Thanks, Jackie!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

As mentioned, ginger grates brilliantly from frozen. You can alternatively snap off a small piece of the root in the supermarket and just put that in your trolley (my preferred solution).0

Hi GGTOEB (please, is it ok i don't type your whole name out?!:rotfl:)
Glad you asked that as I have a bit of ginger lurking about and have wondered what I can do with it!
In the freezer it goes!

I bought some fresh ginger at the local sunday market, just snapped a bit off and it cost me 8p lol the woman gave me a bit of a funny look but what the hell.
i'll have to file the freezing for later reference.A penny saved is a penny earned.
The less you spend the more you have.0 -
I have grown from the fresh tuber, but it needs loads of heat to really grow and get new tubersThinking about container gardens here, too....
If you can get an avocado to fruit in the UK, you can grow your own ginger tubers.

PS, you cannot get avocado to fruit in UK, unless you are Eden Project etcNumerus non sum0 -
if you have a heated conservatory - then you could give growing your own a try - but quite honestly - its NOT expensive in the supermarkets! especially if they sell it loose! just snap off a small bit and it will cost pennies! if they sell a large peice then you can freeze it (i divide it into inch chunks) and use what you need from the freezer - it keeps for ages (I kept one for a year and it was still ok)0

Thanks for that link, Farway, that looks a fascinating site. Maybe I won't be growing it after all - though if I get bored with spider plants and the little money plant in the house, I might give it a try then... and it looks quite attractive from what I can see, sort of small bamboo.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I have slightly over ordered on Ginger for a curry recipe (ordered 200g instead of 20g!) :rotfl:
Now I am wondering what I can do with the rest of it?
Can it be frozen? Or have you guys got any good recipes that I can use it in?
Thanks in advance
Jen
