Excellent! Thanks, Jackie!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

As mentioned, ginger grates brilliantly from frozen. You can alternatively snap off a small piece of the root in the supermarket and just put that in your trolley (my preferred solution).0

I bought some fresh ginger at the local sunday market, just snapped a bit off and it cost me 8p lol the woman gave me a bit of a funny look but what the hell.
i'll have to file the freezing for later reference.A penny saved is a penny earned.
The less you spend the more you have.0 -
Thinking about container gardens here, too....
If you can get an avocado to fruit in the UK, you can grow your own ginger tubers.http://www.plantcultures.org/plants/ginger_grow_it.html
PS, you cannot get avocado to fruit in UK, unless you are Eden Project etcEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
if you have a heated conservatory - then you could give growing your own a try - but quite honestly - its NOT expensive in the supermarkets! especially if they sell it loose! just snap off a small bit and it will cost pennies! if they sell a large peice then you can freeze it (i divide it into inch chunks) and use what you need from the freezer - it keeps for ages (I kept one for a year and it was still ok)0

Thanks for that link, Farway, that looks a fascinating site. Maybe I won't be growing it after all - though if I get bored with spider plants and the little money plant in the house, I might give it a try then... and it looks quite attractive from what I can see, sort of small bamboo.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I have slightly over ordered on Ginger for a curry recipe (ordered 200g instead of 20g!) :rotfl:
Now I am wondering what I can do with the rest of it?
Can it be frozen? Or have you guys got any good recipes that I can use it in?
Thanks in advance
