I've just spent 50 minutes on the phone doing my mortgage application, and the credit check and everything were fine, its all been approved, just got to wait for the valuation (mortgage value is conservatively 35% ltv) which is basically a formality, and then need to sign stuff and prove my income (bank statements, tax credits letter etc etc), then I should be all done
I'm a very happy camper, I'm keeping the payments the same as they are now but it will reduce my mortgage free date quite a bit, it will take a bit of sorting out with my calculator stuff sa I've asked for a mortgage of 46k, its currently 49.5k but I have about £2200 ready to overpay and I still have a while to find the rest, I may need to transfer some across from somewhere and it means my matched betting float will be wiped out and will need drastic rebuilding  but hey, I'm soooo pleased its almost sorted and I was expecting to have to pay some sort of fees to secure a new rate so am very very happy to not have to pay anything
Today was almost a nsd, I spent 50p on a cheese thing at schoolMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

Well done Benben! :T You are going great guns with your mortgage... Your new one won't stand a chance! :rotfl: I presume you can overpay your new one too? Will you be restricted to £500 a time still?
I hope your toothache is better...Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

So that knocks the m-f date down to November 2026

Sorry for not replying Taka
I can overpay on the new one, 10% every January and up to £499 per month
Although I won't overpay as often as before as I want to build up my float for matched betting

Right then, mega update time, this may get a bit confusing so I apologise in advance, and feel free to ask questions if it doesn't make any sense
As of 1st Jan my mortgage balance was £49,991. All the extra money I've made/saved has been kept in my mortgage pot and used for matched betting, so I haven't yet made any overpayments since xmas. Currently I have £2276 in the pot ... all with me so far....
The new mortgage deal I have taken will be for £46k and will start at the beginning of June, giving me just over 2 months left on the old one. So, taking whats in the mortgage pot away from the mortgage balance = 49991 - 2276 = 47715. Also, my normal payments for jan / feb / march would have knocked off approx £375, so 47715 - 375 = 47340.
This means before the 1st June I need to reduce it by another £1340 ... and heres the plan ...
april / may mortgage payments will knock off £250, so I need to find £1090.
My plan (until tonight) was to make £90 before the end of March, then £500 each month for the next 2 months, however, tonights roulette win has meant I've now already done the first bit
So, the new challenge for me now is to make £1000 before the 1st June. I know this sounds huge but it isn't actually much different to normal plans, I am aiming for the following for each month: £200 from my wages/normal budget, £200 matched betting, £50 aqa, £50 ebay.
Obviously this is only a guide and will need tweaking, as I would need to make all the aqa money next month for it to be paid out in time. Also, I should reach payout on scratchcards at some point which will be another odd tenner here and there.
It also means that for a couple of months I won't be focusing on which month the mortgage ends, as once the new deal starts it will automatically knock it down to June 2024 :j :j . At the moment roughly £125 of my monthly mortgage payment goes towards repaying the debt (rather than interest), but once I start the new deal this will shoot up to about £180 per month
Hope that all makes sense, basically I need to make £1k before 1st June, and then once my new mortgage is in place I will need to rebuild my matched betting float all over again. If anyones still awake thanks for reading;)Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
