Hypno's recession busting debt diary.....

Someone has stolen the hours between 11pm and 6am - because I certainly don't feel like I have had 7 ish hours sleep!!
It is Friday, though, and my last day in the office for a week so I am sure today will either go very very slowly or very very quickly!!
Hope you all have a good day!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Lucielle's Daring Debt Free Journey
DFD Before we Die!!!! Long Haul Supporter #1240 -
hi Lucielle! My week off consists of lots of exciting stuff......
4 mystery shops, 1 dentist appointment, a couple of clients, continued declutter of the house, a visit to my Nana.......
and lots of watching of olympic stuff with the kettle never far from my side!
I am sure we will do a couple of bits and pieces - but it is just me and the kids, because OH still at work, so nothing too exciting or expensive!!
Oh, I forgot the other news - we have decided to have a holiday!!!!!!! Next August.....only Centerparcs down the road from us, but that is the most ideal place because the children can be as active as they like, and I can be as lazy as I want.
Basically, the egg "card" will be finished this month, and I am paying £100 a month on that, so I will set up a standing order to a new "holiday" account pot online and save up for the cost of the holiday and as much spending money as is reasonably practical in order that we can afford to eat out rather than self cater all the time.
so, a year away, but that gives us plenty of saving time!!
I will be booking that next week when I am offSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Oooooh, a holiday! :j
I think when you are working as hard as you are to clear the debt, you do need to still have a life, and having a holiday to look forward to will spur you on.
We save all our £2 coins for holiday spending money - it varies a lot from year to year how much we end up with, as last year we had well over £100, but this year we only have around £70, but it is still £70 we don't have to find from elsewhere. Stu has managed to save £60 this last month by putting £15 per week away out of his wages, so we have the MASSIVE  total of £130. We have our weekly petrol/shopping money that we can use too, and I reckon 11 days worth of that is about £115, so that can also go in the 'pot'.
I would use my spare £30 from my shares, but sadly a transaction I'd forgotten about debited my visa card and used that up....:rotfl:"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
We haven't had a family holiday for years! So it will be a nice opportunity for us. We did book a trip to centerparcs a couple of years ago, but then OH was called as a witness in a court case so had to stay at home (we had forgotten to tell the court the holiday date so no chance of changing it because it was our fault! - Lesson learned!).
So, although this one is a year off, I am looking forward to it already!! It also gives the children enough time to save their own money via birthdays etc to have something to spend (which in turn saves me having to spend so much there!!)Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh no, you must have been upset to have the holiday plans scuppered. Both me and Stu are having to travel back to work at various points throughout our holiday so I can sympathise (there will always be at least one of us in the camper with the kids though....lol).
Having a holiday booked is a great motivator though. It makes you feel you can cope with pushing yourself a little bit harder, because you know you are going to get a rest.
Great idea to get the kids to save their own holiday money - luckily Natasha wont really need any, but Ryan does really think that money grows on trees despite my efforts to teach him otherwise. More work needed there I think!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Could Ryan have his own savings book? My two love "passbook" accounts because they can pay the money in and see it entered in the book, then when the interest is added they know they are getting something "extra" - they are being paid to have the book!! With their Halifax accounts they even get to choose the name of the account so he could have Ryan's Very Important Money or something!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oh have a lovely week off Hypno - have to admit I will be glad to get back to work in a couple of weeks - routine is completely out the window at the moment. I know I have still have teaching inthe afternoons so technically I have worked during the school holiday but I haven;t had to be up and out each morning - oh well at least the house is clean, I've used everything in the freezer and defrosted it and I can watch the Olympics !!!! :T
Center Parcs next year sound good - it is good to have something to look forward to - We've decided on USA for Christmas this year (to my sisters) last November and have been saving in Spot the Pig (Its a challenge on here somewhere! - the sealed pot challenge) as spending money - so all change we find etc goes in him. :rotfl:
Anyway I suppose I'd better get going - had to wait up for DD last night as she went to a "lets celebrate our exams party" dressed as a Bumble Bee  Bless.......... anyway catch you all later - have a good day0
