    I've been Money Tipped!
QCs are the highest paid. The top few in the top-paid areas can earn an absolute packet - there are a few QCs who gross over £2 million a year.

And this is what finaly made the decision for DH about whether to be a solicitor or barrister ;) as it turns out he's likely to do advocacy too, but won't really effect his income.

Well, having got through all of that (I reread from the beginning) I just want to be one of th many congratulating OP on his grandchild and also what a great father you are.

If your daughter and her partner learn from you (and the parents living in the annexe presumably) they will have an excellent rolemodel of good family life.

I do think your future son in law should get a ob, any job. Its also perfectly possible to hold done longish part time hours while doing a course. DH and I both worked to varying degrees through our education, including 1st and final years of undergrad degrees (possibly heavyiest 'time' allowance needed for learning in those years) and DH through his law conversion. He was one of the very few on the heavy work load law conversion working, but he did it. I also noted that those of us on my degree course working to support ourselves seemed to commit a lot harder to learning too....it was a head start in understanding the value of our education. I recommend if you s-i-l DOES do the plumbing course he also gets some evening work. Its highly possible bTW o get part time evening work in many wharehouses. I've done it myself...they need things done for overnight deliveries, it pays reasonably well especially for a low skill work, it starts after academic hours and you can still be in bed before midnight, and if you have the energy there is often overtime to be picked up. I liked it because my mind was free top wander while my body was busy :) very good for students.
  • here is another shocking example of someone who got pregnant at 17 but has now bloomed into a professional scrounger par excellence. see this link . may be the govt needs to start coaching classes in how to milk the system. atleast then everyone could enjoy the fruits of the govts tax free gifts to scroungers

Lol Thats a good idea. When my hubby was made redundant, we didn't know anything and was told nothing by anyone. We found things out things from talking to people who have been going to the job centre for the past decade . They know everything and know how to go about it too. We didn't get any help. We couldn't find any work. So we set up our own window cleaning business. We weren't entitled to any help in setting this up either  The only incentive owe had to come off benefits was our own self worth. We literally went from door to door canvessing and ringing companies. We had to come off benefits as soon as we had our first customer, totally on our own:mad:
We are still building up the business and have worked out we would still be slightly better off on benefits!!
But it is getting better, very slowly due to everyone cutting back.
I think the benefits is a great thing, if used properly. But there will always be people who will abuse any system. Look at asylums going to 10 different job centres with 10 different id's getting 10 lots of income, making thousands a week, now they are the ones that need shooting first. But they are getting away with it left right and centre.

Grrrr bubblesmoney (not you obviously but the poster of those posts) , those links have really got my ire up!

And to be so blatent about it!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I am truly speechless after reading that...and angry too

now that i am more prepared to accept. one good reason why i didnt go down the maths dependent careers was that i couldnt be bothered racking my brains too much on statistics. but do feel the way lillyj put it and u put it are vastly different.

whats ur analysis on the 0.05% risk of pregnancy rate of some implants that work over many years? what do u think is their risk of pregnancy over the same 20y period

If we are going to get into maths lessons, could we also have some capital letters and avoid text-speak?

Anyway, if there is a 0.05% chance, which is a probability of 0.0005, of an event happening, then the chance of it NOT happening in any given year is 0.9995. Therefore, over 20 years the chance of it NOT happening is 0.9995 ^ 20 = 0.990047; in other words there is a 1% chance of getting pregnant over 20 years even on such an incredibly effective contraceptive as one that is 99.95% effective over 1 year.
  • I have looked at thread now. Is osmeone on a wind up or something. This can't be for real

Its not going to be a fun world for the baby when mum and dad are not working and not able to give the baby all it needs.

I would never dare get myself into that position at her age - it was the worst thing I could imagine and the thought of telling my parents well that was enough to stop any accidents happening !

I have looked at thread now. Is osmeone on a wind up or something. This can't be for real

even i thought it was a wind up initially but later after seeing other threads by the same person over a longer term i.e. threads about au pairs, etc all the old threads seem to tie in. especially the links found by others for the same person in jehovas witnesses forum and house price crash forum etc. seems to be someone in yorkshire/lancashire in one of the smaller cities but commuting to univ in a bigger city by car / train

so now i dont think it is a wind up especially after briefly seeing some of the other threads. she seems to be a master con
