Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs
20.1075 pence
Normal units
11.5185 pence per kWh
My last npower bill was@
first 185 at 14p
over 185 at 13.05p
Is the first 900 units per annum or per quarter? If its per annum then it may be worth considering but if its per quarter then no chance. The majority of my bill would be at over 20p which is 42% higher. Granted npower haven't upped theres yet but still.0 -
The Primary Units (i.e. first 900) quoted are per annum.
On E.Ons quartery bills the first 220-ish units are charged at the higher rate, and the remainder at the lower rate.
So E.On organises its units in a similar way to NPower, albeit slightly more units are charged at the higher rate.0 -
Have today telephoned Eon to ask them to calculate how much more I would be paying a Quarter if I switched to a capped rate.
I would pay £61.61 more a quarter for Gas
£28.97 more a quarter for Electricity.
So I am staying where I am on Energy Online 5 for the moment and will look at it again in a months time.
It is difficult to decide what to do, but the increase of capping may well be higher than any increase in the pipeline for online tarrifs.
If you are thinking of capping ask how much it will increase your bills quarterly to help you decide. It may then be clearer.
Hope this helps.0 -

Hope this helps.Originally Posted by t-elle I checked into PP V16 a couple of weeks ago and was told it would cost £175 more a year if prices didn't change, (well of course they will), but now PP V17 is even more per unit, so I think I will be happy to stay with Energy online V5.
I am not happy to start paying 20% or more now, the capped tariffs have gone up since Martin first warned ages ago so I do not feel that I am going to suffer (she says :rotfl: ). People also think if they don't like their capped tariff they can go back to the old cheap one, don't think so! When I have switched within the supplier (eon) if the your tariff isn't on offer when you switch there is not an option to go back.0 -
Like a few others on here I'm totally confused as well. I was on EON's Online Energy Extra Saver 5. I switched to the Price Protection 17 plan 2 days ago and I still don't know if I've made the right move.
I've no idea how much more I'm going to be paying for moving to Price Protection 17 (i guess around 18% more). What I reckon I'll do is wait for E.ON to announce their rises and if it isn't anywhere near 18% then I'll switch back to Energy Extra Saver 5 as I can still do that within the 14 days cooling-off period.0 -
I must have been paying far too much for a long time then, because it says I will save £7.88 by capping with EON.
Trouble is, after days of trying to make an online application (to take advantage of the cashbackkings money) I finally got the site to work and it won't accept my meter number! No doubt it will be because I have an IGT. I couldn't be bothered to phone them as it was so late.
Still haven't done anything.0 -
I have gambled by switching from E-on's Online Energy Extra Saver 5 to the Price Protection 17 capped tariff. As a result of this, I know my annual bill will increase by £150, which represents a 22% increase. So the gamble will all be about the amount of E-on's price increases now and (probably) in January and June/July next year.
Apart from my very first switch many years ago when I reduced my annual bill by around £100, it seems that all subsequent switches have cost me more to save spending even more, if that makes any sense!

Just to confirm, although the Price Prot 17 has be pulled from the Eon website (so stopping cashback offers etc) it is still available via the phones today (Friday) and tomorrow at least. Phones are open to 8pm tonight and from 8am-6pm Saturday.
Yes, I do work for them and it is likely you'll queue on the phones but the poor agents on the phones are working flat out.0 -
I phoned Eon today and could have capped had I chosen to however I was informed my increase would be £296! so would put my payments up from £192 per month to £217 for both gas and elec it just seems so much.Remember every waking moment is a chance to turn it all around.;) Knowledge is the key to respect.

Eon energy protected prices V17 is still available, we did it today, & saved over £200 vs Bgas/EDF
Whilst in Tesco in Banbury this afternoon we spoke to Eon
they were there doing it online,
and he gave us an extra 1,000 extra clubcard bonus (store promotion)
the chap told me its still def'ly avail as he's promoting it over there tomorrow but not after tomorrow.
so I will be back tomorrow taking mum (another 1,000 clubcard points)
so thats £80 in deals 4 me and we've saved money and capped our prices
chuffed I am,0
