I bet another (more expensive) one will magically appear within 7 days. This is why some on here are not totally 'with' Martin on his crusade to get everybody to switch, they believe he's 'playing into the energy compay's hands' by urging everyone to cap/fix. It's a difficult one to call.
    Call me Carmine....

HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??

I've changed to their Energy Saver 4 not 5 minutes ago, and had a confirmation email ...

    Did it direct.

I signed up to the Energy Saver 4 plan online via Quidco about 75 mins ago - all went OK, got email from them, and has already tracked successfully in Quidco (£55).

Had been aiming to go with the Scottish Power Fixed Price Energy 2009 but it was no longer showing the plan online (again via Quidco, for £72). And, stupidly, I didn't think the check the forum here before going with the E.ON one, otherwise i'd have seen the post about them honouring the Quidco cashback even over the phone. Though E.ON is still a good deal for me - all I need to do now is wait for my current supplier (npower) to up their prices and I'll see what I'll be saving. Maybe not much, maybe more, but unless they buck the trend so far and go for a lower increase, I'm still quids in!

    Hi oddies1,

Where did you find out it had been withdrawn? I am already an EON customer and I capped this morning. My colleague wanted to switch and cap, but she didn't have all her current supply details so she phoned EON and asked them if it would still be available in the morning - they said yes.

It still seems to be on their website:
    http://www.eonenergy.com/At-Home/Products/Products-Electricity-And-Gas/Electricity-and-Gas/Products-Price-Protection.htm

or is it a different offer you are talking about?
  • They still had capping when I left work at 4pm!
  • I was recommended by Money Supermarket's utilities switch tool to opt for E.on's Price Protection 2009 tarrif at about 18.00 today. I applied, and got an email back from Money Supermarket saying:

Thank you for your application, received on 30/07/2008 18:06:37.

    What happens next?
    - Your application will be sent directly to E.ON within 24-hours.
    - Your application will then be checked and processed by E.ON.

My question: do you think that if E.ON pull this capped tarrif deal between now and the 24-hours stated above, that E.ON will still honour my application? Surely they shouldn't be advertising for application a price tarrif that no longer exist?

I anticipated immediate confirmation that my application had been successful, not just an email confirming that my application had been received.

I called E.ON direct, but their phone lines are so busy that they aren't even putting people on hold - they're just requesting that they leave a name and number and they'll 'get back to you'. Hmmm. But when?
  • I switched suppliers to eon and choose their capped rate today after seeing Martin on TV this morning. I have been accepted so hopefully it should go through.

No, the Price Protection has not been withdrawn.

You're thinking of the Guarantee products, which guarantee to be cheaper than BG.
