my understanding was the the Dec 09 Cap rate was 9% higher than current (old) rate, not 29% higher?0

When are some of these solar power companies gonna swamp Britain with a sort of mail shot with their products and give British Gas/other utilities company customers an alternative to these conglomarates ...makes my blood boil ..... why doesnt this happen ??0
-
There must be alternatives in power apart from all these big energy companies ? Surely someone somewhere has an answer?0

Well when I did a comparison on Uswitch before the rise I got £1370.05 for the 2009 capped rate (dual fuel) and £1065.64 for the best uncapped rate (pre rise). That is roughly 29% more for the cap.
For my area the prices on the 2011 new higher rates are 22.9 and 12.73p per KWH on electricity. The 2009 fix were 23.82 and 12.65. For gas the new 2011 rates are 7.24 and 3.49 and the 2009 fix were 7.092 and 2.975.
There are some slight variations but as you can see there is very little to choose between the 2009 fix and the new increased prices which feature in the 2011 fix.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Because solar energy is even more expensive than fossil fuels.Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world

So the kits /panels etc /home turbines are more expensive to purchase than paying bills ? Surely long term it will work out cheaper?0

I changed to British Gas capped at 7.15 am today - the capped until 2009 deal. I'm sure they must have to honour it and from what Martin has been saying even if its more in the short term it will reap dividends long term. I trust his advice he was so animated about it on GMTV I felt I had to do something and quickly!! If it doesn't work out his heart was in the right place and nobody died! Sometimes you shoot and score and sometimes you don't.
He's saved me thousands over the years so I felt it was worth a try.0 -
Just looking at the Essentials tariff but it doesn't give any prices, I was interested in it for my Mother who receives attendance allowance, she pays by DD and just gets her gas from BG would she be eligible ?0
