Does anyone know wht is happening with Click Energy 5? I see that this has not increased as of yet. This is what I am on at the moment.

Not at yet, Click usually changes a few weeks after the Standard rates have changed, I believe it was February before it was increased earlier in the year.
  • Sorry for being dim. I know that the 2011 capped deal is more expensive than the 2009 one. But with the price increases would it be better to go on to 2011 cap as in 2009 when that cap ends the prices for capping again could be much much higher.

Sorry if I am repeating things. But I am sooooo confused. My OH is working away and I have been left to sort it out :(

BTW, does anybody know which comparison sites are still offering the 2009 cap ? as I hae tried energyline and uswitch and they aren't there anymore.

PP2009 no longer available as of 8PM tonight, basically close of play in the contact centres.
  • Well that answers that one for me then LOL. Thanks Chris :)

    Ok so now I am going to bug everybody some more. Are you better going for the 2011 cap directly with British Gas online. They are offering;

bullet-point.gifPricing - Guaranteed no more rises until 30th September 2011*.
bullet-point.gifAvailability - Available for Dual Fuel, Gas and Electricity only customers.
bullet-point.gifPortable Tariff - If you move home you can take your tariff with you.
bullet-point.gifDirect Debit discount - Discounts of up to £77° if you pay by Direct Debit.
£77 bullet-point.gifOnline savings - £30† off your bill when you sign up your gas and electricity online.
£30 bullet-point.gifDual Fuel discount - A further dual fuel discount of up to £14†† if you sign up both your
    gas and electricity.

    OOr with a comparison site?

Just looking at the Essentials tariff but it doesn't give any prices, I was interested in it for my Mother who receives attendance allowance, she pays by DD and just gets her gas from BG would she be eligible ?

Should be if she gets attendance allowance, however not sure if it's just for dual fuel customers... There's a telephone number (freephone) to get info and get switched to Essentials: 0800 072 7100. Hope that helps!! :)

I'm not sure if going online gets you a bigger discount. We had lots of people signing up to it over the phones today... Have you thought of perhaps going through a comparison site and a cashback site?

    Have you overlooked

"If you cancel the agreement, either by moving to another gas or electricity supplier or requesting to change your gas and/or electricity to another of our tariff(s) at any time prior to 30th September 2011 we may apply a cancellation charge (inclusive of any VAT that may be applicable). The cancellation charges are £30 for electricity and £70 for gas. This charge will not be applied if the agreement is cancelled due to a home move."

    http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/dual/fixed-price-2011.html?WT.seg_3=i100202

So basically they have upped their prices ,capped them at new rate, and should they go down and you want to leave, it will cost you £100.

However it is unlikely they would go down, and it is likely that other suppliers will raise their prices to follow suit, and that they will all put their prices up again in the new year. Say the prices go up by the 60%, and then only down by 20%? You're still saving. Say the prices go up by more than 60% in the next three years? You're definitely saving. It's all about the gamble, eh? To be honest, if the prices DID go down enough for it to be worth cancelling out of the plan, £100 would be well worth it. And you'll almost definitely have 'saved' that £100 by the time it is feasible to think of prices going down, no?

ebico gas rate is 2.86p/kwh wherever you live and their electric rate for s wales is 12.72p/kwh. One clear rate and no subterfuge. I think people have been sucked into capping.

I concur. Its going to take some doing to get Ebico's prices even close to BG's 2011 cap.

I'm sticking with Ebico and not being drawn into this, the companies are blatantly playing us all off. Ending deals to increase customer base etc.

    DISGUSTING.

    Have a look

very fair, no hidden standing charges, and currently the CHEAPEST in the UK!

That's IF they go up in the new year. They may not. Oil prices seem to be falling and demand for oil and gas will fall with these higher prices anyway.

But I may be wrong-it is a massive gamble...
