I finally got my iphone from Apple which I ordered day after the launch date. I got the microsim from O2 few weeks ago and just took the microsim out of the adapter yesterday. I have another month on contract and will be going over to their simplicity tariff.

quite bad, the handset alone is £50-60 more expensive compared to other networks with the same tariff.

Wish T-Mo would actually tell its customers when they are launching the flippin thing. Sooo frustrating!

I've not looked at 'Three' before ... whats their wifi deal I can't see anything on the site ?
Also, if their 3G coverage is so good why aren't people switching over to them .. am I missing something or is it just brand loyalty ?

Not sure what you mean by 'wifi deal'...you get 1GB data/month over the 3G network. If you mean do they have some sort of deal with BT openzone, etc, then no, they don't as far as I know, but 3G reception is usually pretty good everywhere, so if the wifi isn't free, just use 3G.

Just to add some balance to the reception debate, where I live in Reading, Orange reception is appaling inside, and I took back the iPhone 3G two years ago because of poor reception on O2 (though I suspect this was the phone's fault more than the network). 3 has always been perfect.:)

Incidently, I currently 'tether' my Nokia N95 via bluetooth to my laptop when I'm away from home so the laptop effectively uses my phone as a 3G wireless modem and the data comes out of my phone's data allowance.
Does anyone know if I'll be able to do the same with the iphone 4 on 3 (or any other network for that matter)? I believe it is technically possible, but a lot of networks would charge extra for this...the guy I spoke to at 3 didn't know, but this is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

Ok, so here's the low down and how I've managed the above.

After extensive haggling with T-mobile, I renewed my contract and managed to get....

    300 mins
    300 texts
Unlimited data (up to 3gb on Web & Walk Plus)

....for £5 a month on a 24month contract. I can still upgrade at any time to a higher paid tariff and get a new phone if I wish too.

With this jaw dropping deal I can then go and buy an iPhone 4 outright at £499 (16gb).

    So over 24 months =

    £5 x 24 = £120
    +
    £499
    = £619
    Divide 619 by 24 = £25.83 per month on a 2 year contract.

The equivalent deal (with only 500mb of data but unilimited texts) is £30/month and £179 for the phone from O2 (which is £899 over 24 months). So this is a saving of £280.

So if you're a T-mobile customer or for that matter with any other network offering their customers a loyalty bonus on renewal this could just be the way for you to go.

You could easily get t-mobiles 12 months sim only with 600mins 500texts unlimited data upto a 1gb (normally £15) for £10 as an existing customer, but this would drop your saving to £149. But if you can push for a £10 loyalty discount on this tariff, you've got yourself a top deal.

The added bonus is your iPhone will be unlocked as it is purchased directly from the apple store, saving you about £20, that is if you ever need to unlock your iPhone. You can save a further 3% off the retail price if you go through quidco.com. This would help ofset the interest you would have earned paying for the phone gradually over the contract period.

    I hope that helps :)
