    Hi,

Did you call the upgrade department? Or the disconnection department to get the deal? So, its basically a free Iphone 3GS with the £45 tariff for 24 months, but you get £15 off the monthly rental?

    Thanks.

He probably bought the iPhone on PAYG and then didnt take a handset when he upgraded

Very very unlikely that he got any sort of discount on line rental on the Iphone, unless what he said below ....

... or he is on an O2 Staff tarriff which offers the exact discount what the poster is on about.

Thanks for your reply, yes you are right all my family are on o2 so free o2 to o2 is good and would be needed on a 600 min contract but today I went for the 1200 min deal at £45 and the 16gb iphone, however I managed to wangle a £15 a month line rental discount. So im paying £29 a month for 1200 mins and 500 texts.

    Hi everyone,

I need a bit of help...I want to get a new iPhone 3G 8GB for my friend for his birthday next week, and I need to find the cheapest new iPhone on pay as you go. He's on O2 already, so I don't need to worry about unlocking or anything. He's always wanted one of these so I thought it would be a nice present. Is there a better deal available than buying from O2 themselves?

    Many thanks!!

nope O2 have exclusivity on the Iphone and Carphone Warehouse are their sales partners so only O2 or CPW currently sell the Iphone. Your best bet is to order it via an O2 store (or online on O2) for £440(ish) as unlike CPW O2 dont force you to pay £10 extra for a top up.

Thats the cheapest you'll get im afraid. O2 are the only UK network selling the iphone so they can pretty much charge what they like.

The only way you'll get it cheaper is if you order from the Apple store online through Quidco for 4% back

    Ah thanks :)

But do you know if there is any other store that sells the iphones on o2 except o2's own store? (such as play.com , etc...)

Just seems pretty expensive, especially that the new one has come out!

    EDIT: Thanks Charltonfan :)

The iphone 3G 8Gb is not the latest iphone.

The latest iphones are the 3GS 16Gb or 32Gb.

The iphone 3G 8Gb is the previous version and costs £342.50 (not £440 as previously mentioned) on PAYG.

Welcome to the world of Apple - although the products are good, Apple are control freaks and very expensive.

There is no where you can get a cheaper iphone from, unless you try for a 2nd hand one on ebay.

As previously mentioned, only Apple, O2 and Car Phone Warehouse sell the iphone.

mobiles.co.uk sell the iphone but I dont know what the situation is with this company and the price is still the same as Apple, 02 and CPW anyway.

I wish the iphone could have been made available on all networks like most mobile phones.

The fact that its only available on O2 means they have a monopoly... which means they can rip us all off.

Have a look at the bottom right of the mobiles.co.uk website home page...
