An alternative worth considering is Bookrabbit -- http://www.bookrabbit.com/ -- they're cheaper than Amazon on a lot of stuff (on the top 100,000 titles, they claim -- the two books that I've bought were both obscure academic texts, and they were cheaper on them), and delivery is free.on spend over £10 (less than Amazon, if I recall correctly). I've used them a couple of times, and found them to be prompt and efficient.

I'm really really impressed with Prime so far. I signed up on Wednesday to the free service, and so far made two orders and have already got them. I'm really considering speaking to my family and asking if they want to sign up with me, £49 split 4 ways is nothing at all for a years next day delivery postage :j

Keep up the good work Amazon!!!!

I signed up for this in July and managed to get The Money Diet (not sure who the author is  - :rotfl: :rotfl: ) for 99p :j (I also had a voucher).

I've just cancelled it, I thought you had to stay until the end to qualify but after reading this you don't, brilliant!! I'm a very forgetful person so I would have got charged.

I went to purchase two bikes for my kids yesterday, chose express delivery thinking they would be here early next week but then it asked if I wanted to sign up, I signed thinking it would just save me the postage (about £9 courier charges) and I would still get next week - got an email last night stating they had been despatched and would be here today - didn't think they would as normally couriers don't del on a Sat unless you pay silly money but 8.30am this morning, knock on the door and there was City Link!!, really impressed as less then 24 hrs door to door. I don't order enought from Amazon though to warrant paying the yearly charge - like the idea of splitting the cost, but don't have other family that use amazon though.I have diary dated to cancel towards the end of this month but might go in and cancel it now. x

Cancel it now. It will stay on your account until the expiry date so you'll still get the service until then.

Itis good, if you are a frequent user. Personally, I don 't mind waiting for delivery using supersaver, which is generally pretty quick.

If you do take up the trial offer, and then cancel, be prepared to geta stinky e-mail back from Amazon, which I was very surprised to receive!

I subscribed to Amazon Prime when it first came out and I DIDN'T cancel. I think it is great value for money. Amazon sells a huge range of goods and most prices are very competitive. "4hr delivery is very reliable and I've saved much more than £49 on postage.

I've kept mine as well - and I've had it since the day it was first introduced, I must make 75 orders to Amazon a year and I save a *fortune* in postage, I never have to go into the vile hight street and Amazon keeps a list of about 600 things on my wish list for me to get later or for people to buy me - incredibly good service, range and delivery.

Probel was - the order didn't come the following day and when it did, it needed a signature. As I wasn't in, I then had to make a 4 mile trip to the (rather inefficient) local post office to collect the parcel and finally got it 4 days later!

Don't forget you can just email your local sorting office and get them to redeliver the parcel at no extra charge on a nominated delivery date, or the next available day. I have got home at 7 pm to a card before, emailed them, and got the delivery the next day.

I took up the offer in November/December & it was a real help with last-minute Xmas shopping :)
I might actually get my daughter, who lives nearby, to take out the trial this year if it's still on in the run up to Xmas :D

don't recall getting a 'stinky e-mail' from them when I cancelled though
