How exactly is this scamming? All he is suggesting is that you use the free trial, a free trial amazon advertise on their website and want people to take up?

Yes i agree, hardly a scam
  • I have to say that IMO, Amazon have the latest products and are often the cheapest on the market place.
I'm certainly more than happy with them as a company.

In that case, is Martin's advice to SCAM them (after all that what we're advocating here) justified? We're not talking about corrupt banks are we? We're talking about a genuine and honest business that's trying to make it as an on-line retailer.

Just because they are BIG shouldn't make them a target to dishonest individuals who want to abuse the system. This stunt here costs them money (or at least reduces their profit on the transaction).

    How ethical is this?

Come on Martin! This is the slippery slope.
Stop noiw before it's too late.

    Beau

:rotfl: You'd be look elsewhere for your moneysaving tips, because 90% on this site must be unethical to you.

Amazon are encouraging you to use the FREE trial.

    heres a clue,the 13th is a Friday

    Well cheers, I hadn't realised!

    If you look here:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200182130

it doesn't matter as One Day applies all days except Sundays so it should have come on the 14th with despatch on the 13th not the 16th as stated.

However, since I posted originally I have bounced a couple of emails back and forward to customer services. The day after I ordered they dropped the price of the item by £20 and if I had ordered at that point it would have been delivered on the same day as my order. I tried to cancel my order but was unable. At this point customer services said I could claim the difference back after it was delivered.

I was happy with the refund but still not impressed with a six day 'One Day' delivery so I emailed again. This time customer services cancelled my original order, (despite telling me earlier that couldn't be done) re-ordered at the new price and arranged Express Delivery to ensure it is delivered by 14th.

I'm not entirely convinced by Prime but I have to say customer services have come up trumps in the end. I'll give Prime another try but maybe they should rename 'One Day' delivery.
  • I bought my wife a valentine gift and used the amazon prime service to get it in time. i cancelled my prime subs and still got charged. I have emailed amazon and they say hard cheese, you have used the service so no refund,
Not only that i have since gone into another account to set up prime and there is not even an offer to have a free trial. I am now £48 worse off because i took this site at face value and did not look into the finer details on amazons website. PLEASE BE AWARE. especially as i am not getting much repsonse from this site with helping me.

You haven't really got anything to moan about. If you read the terms and conditions, as you should before you agree or sign up to anything, you'll see that you can have four additional household members on your Prime account, which strikes me as pretty good value. DD at uni, but whose cc is registered to this address, can order books to be delivered to her term time or work address, DS1 can use it as he still part-lives here and my lovely lodger can use it too. Bargain.

You selected a service, used it and now want a refund  . How strange.

Why should they offer a free trial to a household that has already made use of the service?

These are the reasons why nobody can help you. There isn't anything anyone can do. I'm with Amazon on this one.
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!

Hey hang on a cotton pickin minute! I thought the purpose of a "trial" was to try something out with no obligation. If Amazon are saying this isn't the case then I along with lots of other people have been conned. I only subscribed because MSE Martin suggested it with the point of cancelling before the end of the trial period. I tried the service and didn't like it so I have just set my Amazon account to cancel the automatic upgrade; if they don't then I'll take legal action against them.

And another thing! All the orders I've placed under the "Prime Trial" they have sent to me via courier. I wasn't home the first time so had to trek across town the next day to pick it up from the Interlink depot. After that I had them sent to an office address so at least I stood a good chance of getting them within a reasonable time scale. They used a courier each time - even for a single CD that could have been put through my letter box. This was my primary reason for cancelling.

Why didn't you ask the courier to redeliver?

Courier sounds like a good thing to me, what with RM being so unreliable.

I would have done if Interlink delivered on a Saturday!! (which they don't, at least in my area)
